McGreevy's closed. Pour House closed and for sale. That completes the trio. Lir right down the street closed. The Fours across from the Garden closed. Two Legal locations closed (Test Kitchen and theater district).

All those places cater to tourists and commuters for the most part. Majority of commuters working from home. The 'burbs where the actual locals live and there are people to feed are doing better with take-out and outdoor tables. The cold is nigh and the outdoor dining and drinking will cease soon. Phuck this pandemic

Looks like Dunkin is going private again via sale to Atlanta-based Inspire. Atlanta! Worse yet, Berkowitz talking with private equity about some kind of deal for Legal. WTF.

Marliave gone which I only found out about today after thinking about how much I can't wait to eat and drink there again. Not sure if it was covid or the number of happy hour Wellfleets I ate. So much time and so many memories at places that no longer exist. Eastern Standard still stings.

    Boston bump…..

Despite somewhat close/4 hours way….I’ve never been.

Moved my daughter into a place yesterday on Beacon Street. She’s in Brookline/Coolidge Corner. She’s at BU for grad school.

Move in was not too bad/but took most of our day yesterday helping her and her 2 roommates. Walked and had a late quick dinner at the bar at Bar Cino (Brookline)….

    Really cool area…..seems safe/totally walkable/tree lined neighborhood…impressive. She’s not going to have a car while there….so she’s totally committed to walk/public transportation.

Will spend the day today exploring…any spots around you guys recommend in Brookline/Coolidge Corner area?

Zaftigs brunch. T Anthony’s pizza. Smokehouse for dinner. You can get anywhere in the city on the green line too (the subway). The Abbey up on Boylston/Washington is good too.

    Nice neighborhood though.

If you're feeling adventurous, take the blue line out to East Boston and go to Reno's Place on Saratoga Street. It's an easy walk from the airport station. Get the lobster ravioli. You're welcome.

They opened a mamalehs up by Washington sq and I dare to say itÂ’s better for brunch.

Washington Sq Tavern—owner is a cool guy and cyclist. Solid joint.
For baked goods walk down to clearflour.

Cafe Fixe does good espresso drinks

Life Alive Organics is a good bowl/vegan spot.

Ramen joint in the arcade by Coolidge theatre is great.

Will likely be landing August 16 to spend the next day around beantown, then rolling out to Worcester on the 18th for our daughters move in day at WPI. Will likely skip back through on the 19th.

I lived in Cambridge circa 1980-81, but don't know shit and am reviewing this thread for suggestions. I didn't see much so far for hotels.

One target is the Gardener museum. Another is dinner in a quiet great restaurant. The wife is gluten sensitive, so Italian is unlikely.

I was in grad school taking classes from Frank Peterson (the Penguin) and Dan Quillen doing way out Algebraic Topology and Category Theory, taught at UMass Boston Columbia Point to cover expenses. Lived up Mass Ave off Ringe. What was the name of the PLO supporting coffeehouse in the basement off Harvard Square? Saw Mission Of Burma around there.

Oh. Well. I was a drunk frat boy hoping to survive Unified Engineering back then. If we made it to Harvard Square we never got past the Hong Kong or the Bow and Arrow. Neither of which supported the PLO.

B ping me if you're going to the Cape, I don't live there but I'm not far.

Also, what Brock asked. Where are you trying to go? Also, what sort of tier place do you want to stay in?

If money's no object, the Chatham Bars Inn.
