Some of the more messed-up things in my life happened in/after being in Daisy's back in the day. RIP. It wasn't really a dive, but man did dive-y shit go on. Kamikazes and lines off the bar etc.

Boston recommendations?
If I’m being honest, the only thing I remember about the way that place looked was that it was in the basement. Many smokes smoked on the curb. The sidewalk outside the place was usually rowdy too. RIP

Cantab in Central Square / Cambridge for some good local music in a classic dive bar.
And catch a sox game in Fenway if you can!

What happened to Joe's Iceman joke? I thought it was funny
Looking through the old threads the duck tours are a common thread. I've brought up the idea but I don't know if we're doing it.
It sounds like now the plan is the get out of town for a day or a day and a night. She's suggested Vermont. Is that really where to go from Boston? What about Maine, that looks close too. We'll have a dog with us and I'm not looking to do any long hikes or anything

Eh for the amount of time you're going there's plenty to do in Boston. I'd stick to the Boston area especially if it's over the weekend. Summer traffic getting out of Boston can be brutal, plus there's way too much to do in VT for just a day or day/half...not even sure where you would go or begin? For a less driving intensive trip you could check out Portsmouth, NH or maybe the very southern part of Maine. I'd probably go there on a short time period over southern VT. But whatever you do, do not try to leave on Friday for a Sat/Sun unless you want to sit in 3hrs traffic for an otherwise 45min ride.
Do Boston people even work anymore during the summer from Thursday to Monday?

2nd Aeronaut
Boston Harborwalk is cool
South Shore beer beach tour:
Barrel House Z in Weymouth
Bawarchi Biryanis for really really good Southern Indian food
Untold Brewing in Scituate
Stellwagen Beer Company in Marshfield
If you have the dog, park in the little dirt lot at the gate at Couch Cemetery in Marshfield and walk the short trail down to the water.

I'd like to see Splittin's sand sculpture. On second thought, I wouldn't.
