Bulldozer Violence is Just Another Normal Part of Life. Send Prayers

    Grow weed, get flattened.

PENN TWP., Pa. - The discovery of a marijuana grow operation on state game lands in Berks County triggered a manhunt that resulted in one person surrendering to police and another being fatally struck by a bulldozer being used to search for him.

It all began around 10:30 a.m. Monday, when a Pennsylvania Game Commission maintenance worker who was operating the bulldozer found the grow operation in Penn Township, near Bernville.

The worker called police; Bernville Borough police responded and came across two men, one of whom was taken into custody by the Bernville police chief.

"One person gave up," said Pennsylvania State Police Trooper David Beohm, a public information officer for Reading-based Troop L. "Another person took off into the very heavily wooded -- the underbrush, very thick -- ran into that location."

A state police helicopter hovered overhead, providing guidance to police on the ground.

"They saw the guy that ran, and they had eyes on him as he was running through this thick, thick underbrush," Beohm said of the troopers in the chopper. "The game commission worker was using his bulldozer to basically blaze a trail, because there is no way that you could walk through that stuff up there."

At some point between 1 and 1:30 p.m., a PSP vice officer who was riding on the bulldozer told the operator to stop.

"They look behind the bulldozer and they saw the male that they were looking for was laying on the ground behind the bulldozer, as they had already gone over that area," Beohm said.

With the incident happening in an area reachable only by all-terrain vehicles, a medical helicopter was put on standby to respond, but the man died at the scene a short time later.

"It's so thick up there, there's no way, there's no way you could see somebody laying there," Beohm said.

Police have not released the names of the men involved. The grow operation consisted of fewer than a dozen marijuana plants, police said.

Where do you even begin? Instead of just, you know, chasing these guys through the forest... they make a road with a bulldozer instead? “There’s no way you can walk through that stuff” . Wtf

ETA: do NOT google - “run over by bulldozer” ... Jesus.

Giving up might have been a much less permanent option.

Bulldozing... all the rage when you're in a rage

Washington state man bulldozes neighbors’ homes in a fit of rage

For some, revenge is a dish best served by a bulldozer.

A "very upset" Washington state man gave his neighbors a piece of his mind by bulldozing through four of their homes on Friday. The afternoon rampage also brought down a 70-foot electricity pole, leaving thousands in the Port Angeles area without power for up to 12 hours.

The Clallam County Sheriff's Office has arrested Barry Swegle, 51, for malicious mischief, the Seattle Times reports.

Neighbor Keith Haynes said that the man "just went nuts."

"He took a skidder and took out two houses," Haynes told the Peninsula Daily News. "I mean demolished. It was like a war zone."

In just a few minutes, Swegle had racked up hundreds of thousands of dollars in property damage, Q13Fox.com reports. Along with the houses, the man managed to damage a truck, a boat and a tractor.

No one was hurt during Swegle's vengeful ride, but all the homes sustained substantial damage, said the sheriff office's Jim Borte. One of the homes was knocked straight off its foundation.

Residents told police that the "highly agitated" Swegle had an "ongoing dispute with some of his neighbors."

Phil Riley, a neighbor who watched the destruction unfold, attributes Swegle's anger to a property line dispute that had been "brewing for some time."

Riley told the Peninsula Daily News that the argument was between Swegle and Dan Davis, a neighbor whose two homes were destroyed.

Most residents' power was restored by Friday night. At least 200 customers who were still in the dark expected to receive power by Saturday morning, said Clallam County Public Utility District spokesman Mike Howe.

Jesse Major's grandmother lived in one of the targeted houses. The elderly lady wasn't hurt, but she remains shocked about the damage to her home.

"Of course she was scared," Major said. "Something was being pushed into her house."

The 19-year-old said that neighbors have often spotted Swegle digging random holes in the middle of the night with his bulldozer.

Police have not yet determined what Swegle was doing with the machine, an International Harvester TD-25. It is a bulldozer-like device that is often used in logging.

Neighbor Barbara Porter isn't too surprised. When she heard the bulldozer start to rumble, she knew that Barry was about to get feisty.

"We all said one of these days Barry is going to take that dang CAT and he's going to start tearing up people's property and that's what he did," Porter told Q13Fox.com.

That response from law enforcement seems a bit excessive for a "grow operation" consisting of fewer than a dozen plants.

They say you can ban napalm but if someone's determined they'll get it anyway.

This thread has some real potential!!

It seems like once someone runs, no matter how small the offense that they are suspected of committing, no collateral damage is too costly when making efforts to apprehend some pecker who disobeys authoratahhh.

Killdozer guy was fully committed, the rest of these guys are pikers. The multiple cameras with 3-inch bulletproof glass with compressed air feeds to blow dust off the lenses is some serious planning.
