Any Poconos experts out there?
My family will be having a big reunion near the town of Henryville (also 10-15 minutes from Camelback Resort, if that town isn't familiar) later this summer. We know nothing about the area. I gather there are some big water parks near by? Any other fun activities? My family has a bunch of 50-60s folks, then a bunch of 20-somethings, plus a high schooler and two 7 year olds.
Any info you have would be great. Hiking trails, is there mt biking in the area (and rental shops biking distance to trails), maybe downhill mt biking, boating, great restaurants, museums, whatever. We have 5 days there, and I'm sure we'll spend most of it by the pool, but would be nice to have a couple of fun outings.

go to kalahari resort for waterparkin........10 minutes from camaelback just off I-380 (camelback waterpark sucks). outlets right at tannersville if anyone wants to shop....barley creek brewpub and pocono brewing company on the camelback access road............can even hike at the delaware water gap (10 minutes from the camelback exit, just off I-80 (at PA-NJ border). Appalachian Trail runs through it,,,,plus many other hiking spots. I'm sure there has to be bike rentals in the area as well.
The area gets a lot of the bad Jersey/NY crowd - be prepared.

If there's any water in the Delaware, you can sit in an inner tube and float down the river. It's best done wearing cutoff jean shorts and a Budweiser flag tank top. You can buy all this at Walmart in Stroudsburg. If I had to spend 5 days in the Poconos I might be inclined to just keep floating all the way to Philly.

Eh, I'm not too worried, the house we rented has a pool, and pool table, ping pong, foosball. The guidos won't bother us too much. And I don't plan on blowing up shit.
Thanks for the reccos, keep em coming!"fuck off you asshat gaper shit for brains fucktard wanker." - Jesus Christ

Too bad there's no NASCAR race at the tricky triangle.
Tour a rabbit farm and lab?

delaware water gap has hiking and climbing, including a short but steep loop that’s probably good for family.
the river is really pretty awesome. canoe camping, bald eagles, black bear. you can get a tourist permit to fish if you’re into that.
there might be bouldering nearby as well but i’m not to familiar outside the gap and river.j'ai des grands instants de lucididididididididi

Also:
-The Ski Loft on Camelback Access Road to rent bikes. They will also recommend where to go for your abilities.
-I’m 45 minutes north up at Lake Wallenpaupack. You could take the crew up for a day on the lake. Lighthouse Marina (Pocono Action Sports) will have anything u need for a day trip on Lake.
-Mt. Airy Casino (if ur into that)

Funny we did the phantom fireworks store just about 20 min towards Scranton from Goshen. 2 days after the 4th was buy one get 2 free. Bro in law and I spent $1000 between us. Had a pretty damned good 15 min show. Even the neighbors came out to watch and hoot n holler. No cops showed. Good times.

A town near Henryville? I never hear anyone use Henryville as a point of reference. LOL. 715 runs right through Henryville, if you head one way, you can hit Alpine Mountain (used to be Timber Hill) ski area, the other way, Camelback (after a right onto Sullivan Trail). On the way to Camleback is Barley Creek Brewery, a pretty good pub. A drive up to to the top of Big Pocono is worth it for sure.
Waterparks? Camelback has one, there is another one in Scotrun called Great Wolf or something like that. I have been out of the area for a number of years so I am going by memory. I will say a must visit is Callies Candy Kitchen in Mountainhome. It is about 20 minutes from Henryville, 715N to 191W to 390N. Suggestions: Choc covered strawberries, choc covered cream cheese and choc covered potato chips. Everything is made on premises.Click. Point. Chute.

Grew up not far from the Poconos. Learned to ski at Big Boulder 30 years ago.
- Water Gap. Good swimming and hiking. The river is pretty clean/clear up that far.
- Blue Mountain Bike Park = SO fun. Some good tech trails and a fairly new flow trail that is good for all skill levels. Place is cheap.

07-10-2018, 07:48 AM #17It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.
I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

First how is everyone on this board from where I’m from. Next thing you know it’ll turn out everyone is a dentist.
Second, you already missed the best thing of the season:

Pretty much rolling through there now on our way home back from visiting my parents. I laughed when I saw Goshen. I remember Tyrone saying he lived in the same place that I’m from.
Anyway, sorry for the thread jack.
