All the necessities for summer fun in WY or MT. I have short overlap with our former mayor, but can add elk steaks to any ski or fish equation should Harry be willing to be a game meat mule for the multitude.

It'll be shorter if you go from the site up to West Jelly and go up and over from there. Prolly 5-6 hours.

About the same for me from here. Doesn't make much sense to come to the valley.

I could give you exact directions to the secret spot prior to launch.

Bring skis, a bike and a gun. And a tent and sleeping bag. And food. And alcohol. No weed for you.

Poma passes are $50 full day. Plenty of hike-to skiing too.
I’m in. Will shoot you a text with a couple more specific q’s regarding prep

We're rolling into Red Lodge on the 30th, skiing the 31st and tentatively the 1st if anyone wants to meet up with a JONG.

Tough place to plan for. I'm going to watch the weather the next couple weeks and if I go it will probably be a last minute decision.

It's almost like someone said, "hey, running a ski area is way too easy... Maybe we should try on a seasonal road around 10,000 feet."

"Okay, but only if there's no grid power, no running water, and avalanche risk to mitigate before we can open for the year."

    Yet they make it happen.

Yeah that opening weekend has always been very hit or miss.

EoB, you seeing this? We may get blown out for this weekend. Stay in touch...

That's good news for conditions though. And if they do open the road, lotsa folks may be put off, which means less peeps to start.

Crazy weather up there but that is BB. No guarantees except not to expect anything.

The race coach I know showed up on the BB calendar for the week we are going so I went ahead and texted him and he'll let my daughter ski in for as many days as she wants for cheaper than I thought. She is up to agreeing to one day of race camp now to try out her new skis...she'd rather freeski with her beater dad. Lol.

    Stokeage.

Just seeing this now, I’ll be locked and loaded ready to roll till the 11th hour. If things don’t pan out it is what it is but I don’t have shit going on this weekend so it would be nice to get out

Like you said, could be money if the weather cooperates enough to give the crews time to clean er up

Haha. If only it were that simple: "but wait, let's make sure the feds are actually responsible for maintaining the road to the parking lot itself, and set up on land owned by an entirely different federal department."

Looks like they are getting closer. My family has a cabin in Cooke City, thinking of sneaking over for a couple days next week.

Thanks T., I had not seen that but that's the first positive message in weeks.
The last second openings are always a bit stressful.

Packed and ready to go mid day tomorrow after some work with Rideit.

    Hell yeah!
Are they limiting day tickets or is window walk-up fine? Might make it over there in 2 or 3 weeks.
    No longer stuck.

Doesn't look like they are limiting ticket sales this year. You can purchase at the window using cash or check only.
