DJ are you thinking of trying to make it for opening weekend? IIRC when we went 2 years ago we bought our tickets in advance which ended up being a good move as and they did indeed sell out

Could MDW be good for a mag mini?

Yeah, I'm shooting for it but never over committing as I've been shut down hard before.
Nevertheless, opening day can be awesome as our corn laps were pert good.
    Sketchballz poma rides but hey.
And you have yet to ski the bigger hike to's.
    Except rock creek iirc.
It's my spring mental release trip fosho.

You guys are going to brave the Memorial Day weekend shitshow? Man, I don't know. I'm thinking early or mid-June.

I didn't think it was bad at all 2 years ago over MDW, at least not in the actual ski area. Plenty of available camping too.

The easy-to-be-had lines off the road were definitely a bit of a shit show though.

The word is Beartooth is majority owned by some major Big Sky money these days… like the same players who own the majority of Big Sky.

Might be worth remembering bear spray if you plan on camping at the usual spots at the base of the pass on the red lodge side. If the bear doesn't move along by memorial day the camping scene might be really hampered....

Just saw on their IG that tickets for opening weekend are no longer available online, just at the top shack.

Bit of a gamble for those doing the long drive.

Anyone know if they sell them from the shack before opening day? May be worth swinging by the afternoon before, if not showing up first thing and waiting for things to soften.

Just a guess but it'll be a shit show and sold out? I'd want the security of a pass bought online before heading over.

Do you have a link to that info? I just took a faux attempt at purchasing for the 27th and it was a go although I didn't complete the purchase.

How would you get to the top shack to prebuy a ticky, if the road is not open until opening day?

And the half day is often better skiing on that bowl. Gardiner is often corny by 8 am. Faces the early sun...
I am not as crowd averse as Byates ,while at the area. I get enough quiet back at the secret campspot.
And even when it's busy, it's usually a cool crowd, plus gapervision to some degree. It was worth the trip just to see the screwball entries to start the day last time.

It was on Instagram. Didn't make any sense to me to stop selling tix two weeks early.

They don't have the IT literacy to handle online sales very well. Show up and ski or don't.

I highly recommend attending the pig races at the Bear Creek Saloon. I think it’s every evening at 7pm.

Shitload of fun to drink beer and watch these little piggies fly around the track.

    Beartooth Pass conditions?

Anybody know if opening day at the basin is Friday or Saturday? When they were selling tickets online only Saturday was available.

Saturday is opening day for the lifts. You can hike and ski everything else on Friday.

Gardiner headwall, 57 chevy, Rock Creek...

I'm 95% sure to be there mid-day Friday. Anyone else committing?

Well, shit--camping is going to be limited, and Reefer Ridge is going to be a long walk out if you ski the whole way down:

Glacier Lake Road #2421 will be closed for a motorized closure from Limberpine Campground heading southeast including all NFSR spurs originating from Glacier Lake Road. The Road closure is for public safety due to road and bridge deterioration from prior year flood events. Repair work is planned for this season.

Yep, taking a pass on this weekend. Want to ski up there but not enough to brave the weather.

Hopefully they’re still open a week from now.
