Thread: Praxis Lhasa Pows?
-
09-18-2018, 12:15 PM #401
Of the people who responded and who confirmed they are looking to purchase the ski currently, 62.5% want Enduro Veneer, 37.5% want Heavy veneer. A little less than half of the enduro crowd want carbon.
Everyone wants the veneer topsheet with the Lhasa "swirl" design ink stained on top, in dark ink (blue would be the closest thing to a consensus for color). Everyone wanted 4 flex.
For the people who won't buy now but could be interested down the road, the heavy/enduro split becomes right about 50% enduro, 50% heavy
If Keith does two core layups, Enduro/Veneer/4 flex and Heavy/Veneer/4 Flex seem the clear choices.
If he does 1 core, I think Enduro/Veneer/4 Flex would satisfy the most people. Especially considering the new Maple/Ash/Aspen (Enduro) cores are damper, and have more mass + resort variable capability
I pinged Keith over the weekend with the poll data and asked him about theorized weights with enduro and heavy as well.Last edited by Muggydude; 09-18-2018 at 12:52 PM.

You might want to reach out to Keith again on your poll results, Muggy. I didn't see this post until now and Keith was pretty much frustrated that everyone wants custom builds. I told him I tried to narrow down the options to some basic choices and that he should read this thread, so maybe he didn't get the results of your work on that subject.
I have been very hands-off in recommending what Keith does or doesn't do and have just shown him how the 191 flexes and the run and rise on the nose and explained the tail mod we pretty much agreed upon here. We found some striking similarities between the GPO and the 191 in terms of nose and tail rise and run in comparing and looking at the tails more closely. We got a laugh kiddingly accusing each other of borrowing each others' design features cause that's kind of a thing in ski building. Gonna be a great ski.
Pics next week!

I picked GPO’s last year because it was the closest thing I could find to my Lhasa....

Pics are coming. Keith said this first pair came out stiff and heavy. Isn't that what some mags wanted?
Now he can gauge the stiffnesses to match his scale.

He has a pair of 191 carbons to compare to and a 191 Fat Hybrid.
He's got it handled. I have a lot of faith in Keith.

It lives!!!
I need to go to Utah.
Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?
So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....
Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

It's pretty fucking cool to see this ski design get tweaked again for max performance after adjusting it twice already.
I can't wait to ski it. It'll be like the goodle daze of zenning out and visualizing how that core and the composites and the camber and the sidecut react and feeling it in my feet as if they'd grown extra nerve endings just for that evaluation. I trip on that shit.
