Fuck me. Missed the game, but I think it’s cool such a small country will be playing for it all. Especially a non Latin American team.
    Rooting for Croatia.

Great game! I would’ve preferred an England/France final, but got to admit the Croats played a better game. I particularly admire their skill at fouling without getting penalized for it.

Croatia may have played the better game but the English fans' commitment to chanting the same song nonstop for 2 hours except for a rendition of God Save the Queen was inspiring (and extremely annoying).

    Oh Bloody HELL!!!

Just kidding, I'd only be pissed if England had lost to Russia instead. Both of the teams playing for the cup belong there. Good effort by England too.. I'm seriously still really happy they got to the final 4..
Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

So, do all these players speak English?

I mean, they are constantly jawing at each other, and the ref, regardless of countries involved. Theres a bunch of languages represented. So how are the Russains talking shit to the Spaniards, and both complaining to the French referee? (for example)

    Jawing is an international language.

.... this ref is even worse a second time of watching.

You don't need a mastery of the language. A few swear words in the language of your opponent and the words for "mother" and "sister" should suffice.

As I was watching the game last yesterday, I started to wonder, why don't we hear the players yelling at each other? There are microphone all around the field and you can hear every single strike of the ball. But, you can't hear any voices on the field, even when they are next to on of those mics.

It was quite a big deal in my area late 70s. Jumped the shark when they tried adding indoor are seasons. After that it became trivial.

My fam used to have Cosmos seasons tix back in the day. Beckenbauer, Pele, Chinaglia, Bogi etc. etc. This is where I seriously caught the soccer bug.

I also remember a fight in the Giants Stadium parking lot (I was like 6) where a dude was spinning his binocs around his head as a weapon. I was transfixed.

I digress...Lovren should have had 4 yellow cards yesterday. I mourn for England, but I picked Croatia to win (but was rooting for England). Fuck.

Also, Hazard was fouled 19 yards out and didn't get a free kick against France. Both games saw suspect refereeing. Fuck.

^^^^ I had been wondering why i hadn’t been hearing much. Their fans often cause issues.

Their players had early childhood affected by war. Like real war. Their dads would have been fighting if they didn’t flee. They will be a tough out on Sunday.

The Croatian war of independence went from 91-95. 20k killed, 25% of economy destroyed and 43% of deaths were civilians. Croatia is the size of West Virginia which is less than 1/2 the size of Alabama. That’s a lot of violence in a small area.
