    2018 Tennis thread

Didn’t see a 2018 thread. Nothing came up on a search.

French Open is on. A few round one upsets. Love the clay courts.

I’d say more of an issue with the search function, but you are correct. Fail on my part though

Well, to the topic, MT Junior's high school team made the finals of the "C" division of the deccoturf nationals where they lost 3-4 to some ill. team that i understand is an effective suburb of St. Louis. Edwardsville? honest lost with no controversy, came down to 3 doubles. MT Junior 3 for 3 in the tourney. They finished 3rd in their region in 6A georgia, which is effectively third in the state as thier region owns the state. IMO thier region is pretty much the SEC of high school tennis in the southeast, maybe for this 1/2 of the nation. In 2018 the region was down some featuring only number 6 in the nation (ranked by top 5 UTRs). in 2017 they had #s4, 12, and 21. any of the top six teams in region are somewhere north of a median 9.0 UTR on the court. In the final four they managed to beat region #2 in a thrilling match in which three of the five lines went 3 ball-buster sets. Then they got absolutely obliterated in the state final. By #6 in the nation.

And just like that high school sports are over at the MT household.

Wait what were we talking about?

^ no change here. in all matches lines are called by the kids on the court. if they got pissed enough they could ask coaches to call lines but i've never seen it happen in a high school match. Really enjoyed my kid's involvement in the sport these past 8-9 years and will miss it.

    Go Shapo, go Milos!

Foreigners I like - Fed of course, but Rafa always a contenda.

Dark horses - Querry, Crazy Nick K, Tsonga, Monfils, Dolgo

Keys lost a tough one today. Choked away the first set up 5-3, big comeback in the second when it looked over, lost a tough third. Had her chances but just too many errors at costly moments.

What I thought it said at first glance... had to do a double-take.

Haha. Would pay big dollars for courtside.

To. On. Funny the change in context with a simple mistaken word. Wishful thinking on my part.

Halep just lost a three setter. Women’s draw is pretty open. Big opportunities for some unranked players.

Absolutely. Nishikori sure kicked the Aussie loon's ass. Milos cruising along, hope he stays healthy (mind and body).

Fed lost a tough one today. 13-11 in the 5th. So entertaining. Love tennis.

Nadal Del Potro shaping up to be a similar match.
