Wow. I'm just going to resign myself to buying my veggies at sprouts till I get an irrigation system. Want to build a garage so I've been holding off on laying more pipes. Hopefully will go full on green house attached to the garage at some point.
Well I mean my oregano is going gangbusters. But my basil, tomato, peppers results probably won't cover the cost of the starter plants and potting soil.

Peppers are hard to grow without a greenhouse.

Garden 2018
Anyone else have a Harbor Freight greenhouse? We have a 6x8 ($200 on sale) and a 10x12 ($450ish on sale). We couldn't be happier with them other than when we lost a panel in both during a windstorm. If I can ever get photos to work I'll post up a few.

Sounds like a good deal
I didn't believe in reincarnation when I was your age either.

You can buy roughly 2,000 jalapenos for $200.
The basil on the other hand is pricey to buy. I'll get some produce out of this plant but not a ton. I think it's just ion a bad spot. My tomato plant is actually looking pretty good, we'll see if I make it past pest stage to ripeness. I think the cherry tomatoes do better than the heirlooms I did last year.

My tomato is doing great but basil is just sitting there and turning yellow. Seems they both like nitrogen but one seems to be hurting for it. Debating trying to add more even though I planted it in new potting soil and plenty of it versus just digging it up and moving it to where it did well two years ago. I've been putting some coffee ground around it, could use a lot more. Could add fertilizer even though potting soil had some. Ideas?

Yellow basil leaves usually means root rot from too much water and not enough sun. Basil loves water so it sounds like they need a sunnier spot or better drainage/airflow for the roots.

hmmm, well that seems more logical than lack of nitrogen since I used sheep and peat and miracle grow potting soil.
I put these plants in a little trough of ground so yeah probably not much drainage. I bought my mom a starter plant from the same crop and hers is already 2feet high mine hasn't grown at all. Guess I'll have to dig it out and see what's up.

We plant basil in a box with good drainage, and keep the soil soaked. Grows like mad this way.
We kinda let the herbs go a bit too long:
We’re getting a shitload of strawberries every day; they get mashed into ice cube trays for use in smoothies. We have enough to last six months, and we’re still picking a full bowl daily:
The rest is filling in nicely; tons of apples peaches, and plums too.
Looks like a good year!

No pics cause my garden isn't very photogenic. Just here to bitch about my dog who after getting a taste of cucumber, has since eaten every single one of them. I got about 10, then haven't seen one bigger than an inch in 2 weeks.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

Garden 2018
If the scape is still green treat it like asparagus or brassica. Cure the bulbs by hanging by the leaves in a dark (out of the sun) well ventilated place for a couple weeks. Once cured cut the bulbs off the stock and store in a cool dark dry spot.
