The Nipple, June 10, 2018
Since the skiing was so good the day before, I returned to The Nipple the next day. Once again, I got got to make turns with a friend that I hadn't seen in a while.
Since The Nipple has so many different exposures and patches to choose from, we skied a couple of different lines than I did the day before.
Penny and Makisha following Richard on the "Boreal" patch above Lower Blue Lake.

Another great day and there are still plenty of good lines to ski.Last edited by Vets; 06-21-2018 at 05:56 PM.

Roundtop/Sisters, June 16, 2018, One
On this day I joined Skier666 and Austin for an adventure that included skiing on various areas on Roundtop and Sisters. We started from near Woods Lake and headed up past Winnemucca Lake.
I'll post a few highlights here while we wait for a full-fledged Skier666 TR and video with a cool soundtrack.
Austin and Skier666 would head up Moon Crescent Chute...
While waiting below I took a run in the Chef Raekwon/Ghostface Killah area. Here is a self-timer photo.
(The snow really wasn't waist deep. The camera angle just made it look like that.)
Vets taking another run on Ghostface Killah.
We traversed and hiked over to the various zones of Sisters next.
Skier666 spraying his way down Sisters.
We would continue to ascend and descend our way across Sisters with a few traverses thrown in.
Skier666 ascending.
Austin skiing one of the Middle Sisters Chutes.
Vets skiing C.R. Chute.
Skier666 and Austin admiring the views of Roundtop and Sisters.
I think that we must have skied every good line you can see looking from left to right. Definitely a very full, fun-filled day!Last edited by Vets; 06-22-2018 at 11:32 AM.

Makisha and Penny joined me on a ski recon mission to Highland Lakes, Hiram Peak.
Looking across Upper Highland Lake at today's destination, Hiram Peak patches.

My view of an excited Makisha and Penny on my third run. Upper and Lower Highland Lakes can be seen in the background along with the backside of Folger Peak.

This was a successful recon mission. We found good snow at a place worth returning to.Last edited by Vets; 06-22-2018 at 11:35 AM.

The Nipple, June 19, 2018
On this day I was joined by Flexon Phil to reach the milestone of his 100th ski day this season.
We made tracks and creamed corn eights to celebrate.

Hiram Peak, Highland Lakes, June 23, 2018
After skiing some of the frontside patches earlier in the week, I returned with Mrs. Vets, Makisha and Penny to explore some areas around the back bowl of Hiram Peak.
Vets on his first run of the day.
We traversed across the bottom of back bowl over to one of the beautiful pond areas.
Makisha watches, Vets skis, and Penny splashes.

After taking three runs on the back bowl area, we headed back over the ridge to the frontside facing Highland Lakes.

Ebbetts Pass, Dorothy Lake, June 25, 2018
Mrs. Vets, Makisha, Penny and I returned to one of our favorite places, Dorothy Lake. Dorothy Lake is a short hike above Ebbetts Pass.
Makisha watches Vets ski toward Dorothy Lake.
Penny and Makisha follow Vets on the snowpatch above Dorothy Lake.
Makisha sniffing her reflection below the snow overhanging the shore of Dorothy Lake.
Vets making a patriotic corn snow spray in front of the flag on top of Ebbetts Peak.
Makisha smelling a flower with my ski tracks in the background.
Butterfly on flowers.
A beautiful day in many ways.

Folger Peak, June 27, 2018
While skiing up at Dorothy Lake near Ebbetts Pass two days earlier we had a good view of the Folger Peak area. We noticed that the bowl below the looker's left ridge was still holding enough snow for a nice long run. I headed up with Makisha and Penny.
Penny loves the snow.

A panoramic view of the bowl and remnants of chutes below the looker's left ridge of Folger Peak.
After two runs from just below the top of the ridge we headed down following a stream that led to a skiable patch of snow below a little waterfall that brought us down to a quick five-minute walk back to the car.
It was nice to cool off and take a relatively long run for the end of June

We passed Jack's Glacier on our hike up. We would return here on our way back down.

After navigating some runnelled suncups on Hidden "Glacier" we headed back over to Jack's "Glacier" for some smoother snow.

The Nipple, July 2, 2018
Makisha and Penny joined me to start my 177th consecutive month skiing.
Penny crossing a snow bridge below the heart shaped break.
After only 20 minutes we were at the top of a snow patch. Here I saw a little snow cave to explore.
Penny and Makisha try to convince me to try the top side of the snow.
Penny, Makisha, and Stev synchronizing angulation.
While the quantity of snow is dwindling, the quality of the snow remains smooth and fun to ski.

Nice to see continuing turns into July. 177 months, wow!
I'm looking for some patch skiing this weekend. Where would you recommend for some fairly quick access? Patch? Dunderberg?
Thanks.

The Nipple, July 7, 2018
Penny joins me for some cool fun on the snow.
Penny at the bottom of a backside patch. Her digging in the snow makes it look like she is using hair product on her fur.
Vets on his second run of the day (self-timer photo.) Lower Blue Lake is in the background.
After taking one more run on this patch we headed to the patch you can see on the left.
Vets on his fourth run of the day (self-timer photo.)
After one more run on this patch we headed over to the frontside or east ridge of The Nipple.
Penny follows Vets on his sixth run of the day (self-timer photo.)
After two more runs down we headed back to the car. The breeze across the snow helped to keep us cool on a hot day.

Dunderberg Peak, July 12, 2018
I was joined by Mtndaddy and son for some skiing on Jack's "Glacier."
A panoramic view of Jack's "Glacier" and Dunderberg Peak.
Vets on our first run.
Mtndaddy spraying corn snow on a tele-turn with his son watching from above.
Mtndaddy and son on another run.
It looks like Mtndaddy found some deep snow, but he is on the other side of a snow ridge.
Son of Mtndaddy.
Vets taking another run.
Not only was it cooler up around 11,000 feet, it started raining right after we finished skiing.

Forestdale Divide, July 17, 2018
Makisha and Penny joined me on a recon mission to a classic old favorite area, Forestdale Divide. Previous reports of the road being closed seemed to be in error as there were no closed signs. In fact, the road from Hwy. 88 down to the bridge over Forestdale Creek was the best I had ever seen it. It felt like it was freshly graded. However, the road after the bridge was close to the worst I had ever seen it and it looked nearly unpassable just before the "Right Patch." We headed back down to the "Center Patch" which had more snow and looked a lot safer.
Vets, Makisha and Penny on our first of three runs on the Center Patch. (self-timer photo)
After two more runs we headed out for more snow recon as well as ways to keep cool.
Penny cools off in Forestdale Creek.
After cooling off in Forestdale Creek we headed down and all the way around past Blue Lakes to Lost Lakes.
Makisha and Penny cool off at Lost Lakes.
We continued on until we were on the other side of Forestdale Divide. We hiked over to the Luniz Patch.
Makisha looks across the Luniz Patch at Penny in the pond.
In order to be able to say "I got five on it," I took five runs on the Luniz Patch.
Vets, Makisha and Penny on our fourth of five runs on the Luniz Patch. (self-timer photo)
Vets taking a dip to cool off in the pond below the Luniz Patch along with Makisha and Penny. (self-timer photo)
Apre-ski wildflowers.
Mission accomplished. We found snow and water at elevation to escape the July heat.
