Fucking unbelievable that they cannot upgrade them in the US and need to be shipped to Ger.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

PDA - I ended up trashing mine...used probably 35 times in 3 years.

The silly off/on/battery door design failed to reliably make contact with the battery. Not good for use in a device that is supposed to go thru trama/impact.

While essentially still like new, i couldn't trust that a slight jiggle of the end cap/switch during normal skin wouldn't break contact...i called but they seemed to not care about flaw. Offered a deal on same model but not interested

If you register your device online, the warranty goes to five years. FYI. I'm was on my 3rd s1, and they just sent me a new s1+.

Hmmm. I have well over 400 days on mine and the on/off switch still functions fine.

I also wasn't aware that beacons are suppose to go through Trauma/impact. Learn something new everyday.

    Carry on.

Mine is affected and probably should send it in. I have to cross avy paths on the XC trails and snow bridges over the melt outs in the spring and I usually am solo. Does the glitch affect finding a buried me? Or me showing someone else where to dig?

Saw that. Just signed on to the program and downloaded the documents. The magic carpet is in a slide zone at Alpy.

Sent mine in on Monday via UPS. Anyone else get theirs back yet? How long was the turnaround?

Is it just me or does Ortovox have more recalls than everyone else combined?

Maybe that is a measure of their willingness to recall over less critical issues than others? Or maybe the have more critical issues.

Sent mine to Germany via a pre paid label. This was over the summer so turn around time was not critical. Got it back last month. Pleased with ortovox's customer service.

Anybody struggling to get in touch with Ortovox? I've filled out the form twice a few weeks apart and never hear back. I'm pretty sure I clicked all the right stuff......

Just got around to sending mine in and got an email saying there's a 6 week processing time now. Don't know if that includes shipping time (I assume not). If you haven't sent yours in and don't have a backup you might want to get on it before it starts snowing.

I got the same email and had my beacon back in my hands less than a week after dropping it at a UPS store.

I realized this was happening with mine as well last spring while conducting a search. Kind of scary to discover the beacon was only working SOME of the time.

Ended up going with the Mammut Barryvox.
