Look at all of the outings and transgressions over the last few years. From what I can tell, the victims have support, and not only from friends and family, but from people who don't know them personally. Why isn't this happening for this victim? Just seems like if this was someone at my school, I'd be at her side defending her, not sneering at her. She didn't do anything wrong!

How can you tell that she is not getting support from her closest friends?

As for victims always getting support, seriously? Go read accounts of Nasser and the gymnasts. One girl's freaking father told her she was wrong and didn't support her. So no, these sentences: "Look at all of the outings and transgressions over the last few years. From what I can tell, the victims have support, and not only from friends and family, but from people who don't know them personally" are fundamentally wrong. And the fact that you think them to be true does come across the wrong way.

In addition, state champion high school football in Texas is more of a cult than professional sports.

Got it, thanks! You win. I was referring to the piece of the article that talked about people sneering at her in school. That's F'd up and does not compute.

“[Our players] represent the seal on their helmet and do it with pride and play unbelievably hard for the community.”

As he succeeds on the field, Surratt, who's also the district's athletic director, has been rewarded off of it. Carthage ISD increased his salary this year by $21,400, the district's biggest administrative pay raise this year. With a total salary of $154,900, Surratt is paid just a little less than the high school football coach in Lake Travis, where the district's student body is nearly four times larger and its median income is six figures. Carthage ISD's median income is $49,886, a few thousand below the state average.

Surratt paid for his own raise by bumping ticket sales and earning championship prize money.

Residents in the school district, who number about 16,700, are crazy about their high school team. The 400-member booster club raised $119,360 between January and October to supplement the school's athletic budget.

The salutatorian of my class at a suburban Dallas HS was also the starting QB our senior year. He was fucking smart and an above-average QB. Not many people cared about his scholastic achievements besides teachers and his parents, but goddamn they were critical of him on the field for his lack of greatness. Compound that fervor for greatness by 100 and that's what it's like in the smaller communities. Football and remembering the glory days is the only thing they have to live for....well, and church on Sundays.

This could easily happen at my high school back in the day. For sports we had football, and some other things nobody paid attention to (except those of us doing them.)

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

This was obviously not voluntarily though. Not defending at all, but maybe kids don't understand the weight of the decisions they make around this stuff. A real dick move showing it all around, but I am under the impressions that there are tons of pictures floating around out there that are shared amongst classmates without consent. Putting technology in kids hands and we expect them to act adult.
But the adults in this situation should be publicly flogged.
    Bullshit.

The kids are old enough to drive. Fucker should be put on the sex offenders list as should anyone that knowingly hosted or distributed the video. It's child porn.

Explain it to them before you put the technology in their hands.

Seems the personalities never change, but the technology has taken this to a place it cannot go.

They need to make an example of the entitled perv.
