Yuki Kawauchi is a bad ass mf'er.

- has a real full time job;
- doesn't have sponsors (that will probably change)
- his jersey has his employers name on it - Saitama Prefecture - (local government)
- runs (and wins) everything from 1500m to ultras
- had a bad run in an olympic qualifier - so he shaved his head in disgrace
- does a dozen marathons a year - often one a month
- came close to running sub 209 in three consecutive months
- asked about the 2018 Boston conditions he said that they were "the best possible conditions for me"

My brother in law ran 3:15 yesterday, not too shabby considering conditions and that he's mainly a triathlete and he just turned 50.

It’s Patriots Day, State holiday in Massachusetts. Red Sox always play an 11:00 matinee game. To coincide with the finish of the marathon.
