Because…it’s designed to isolate an undisturbed area for study, protection, and/or restoration.

The cattle probably needed protection from them. Whatever it was they were hunting, not so much.

So, this particular allotment is a grazing allotment for a short period of time in the summer since it’s an elk calving ground in the spring. There is only livestock there after July 1 to the end of August. The livestock are gone before archery season starts so there are no livestock up there now.
Yes, as MS stated, the range enclosures are to protect small sections of ground from being disturbed, even by humans. Annual forage collections will be done inside & outside of the enclosure to study and monitor the forage, climate impacts, wildlife and livestock use & plant selection, etc. That’s the short answer.
It matters that they camped in it because they’ve made it a campsite - had a campfire, disturbed all of the plants and grasses, set up a couple of tents, etc, and left toilet paper strewn about. I am amused by the camping part, but what is it with more and more people these days doing the complete opposite of “leave no trace” and who takes shit that close to their camp?

My dog attacks bees, hornets, wasps, etc.
He knows what they are and that they’ll sting him, and rather than make him steer clear it pisses him off. He attacks and then shakes his head for the next few minutes.
I shudder to think what would happen if he encountered a nest. That would not be amusing, I suspect.focus.

Also had no idea what a range enclosure was, and Google didn't help.
But fuck leaving a trace while camping. I get how some trampled grasses will fuck with your science, but anything more is simply unacceptable.
Toilet paper??
Not a hunter, but those guys give hunters a bad name.

Got a more full report this morning.
They must believe in the power of the protection zone, there was no indication of proper food storage in bear country.
They were parked in brand new 4 runners at the trailhead from UT
They all looked like they had just walked out of "The Modern Huntsman," and would not be surprised to see a blog someplace about their hunting experience in the backcountry of Idaho. Apparently, they were tall and very attractive, like models for a photo shoot.
The last comment this morning was "Let me put it this way, I would not go hunting with them."

My buddie's mom has dementia and we are discussing and he says she has a full time aide to help her out. A couple of weeks later I am at a party and see this hot young Slavic looking minx with low cut blouse and nice shorts mixed in with a bunch of old people friends. I ask him who TF's daughter is that. It's his mom's aide. I'm like for reals? Seems like a possible penthouse forum, but this guy is a soon to be 60 YO virgin. Did not even seem to think of what could be, apparently. My mind was racing. Added her to the rotation that night

Trying to apply for a vaccine passport in France for an upcoming 24 hour layover. The website has an option for English or French but choosing English only translates about 25% of the page.
