Dunno. I didn't wear any that day. I was still on cloud 9 and forgot in the rush to get the swimmers to the lab.

It's like the old days in the Soviet Union--you see a line you get in it, without bothering to find out what people are lined up for. Toilet paper? Apples? FOMO.
Although I do understand people not wanting to have to gate check their carry-ons.

Overheard at the top of Lakeview chair at Alpine Meadows. "Which way is Granite Chief" (Answer--the next ski area north.)
Heard in the parking lot--family walking back to their car, with a car coming up the road towards them. Dad--"Let's get off the road." 7 year old--"Why?"

So. For direct flights, I don't mind, especially on the return leg of a journey. I pack it so it's OK if it's checked. Unless it's ski boots. Then I don't want those touched by anyone.

Every couple of years I deep google myself- the full on stalker shit.

Personal search engines, credit shit, whatever I can find (none of it exists actually, just checkin). Criminal, news stories, captions, posts, quotes, images, videos, you name it (that exists). Maybe to get to know my past self and see how it's doing, or if my idea of accuracy matches the clinically immediate results. (No, I don't take algorithms seriously, just like porn, but it's fun to look at those [name your fantasy])

It almost always occurs when I'm trying to suss out whether someone is full of shit, or just to get a peek into their quasi-public persona; See what their profiles look like, way back to their stupid days, etc. Just to get a feel for who I'm dealing with to check my intuition. My gut doesn't hold enough serotonin to be as accurate as it used to, and I've lost too much energy judging people, but, it is a very temporal reality check.

Yes, I know this is a major contradiction, but that's why it's an every couple year thing.

Sometimes, but rarely, I'm pleasantly surprised. Very rarely.

Alas, since I don't have any social media profiles, it's fun to see what comes up for myself. Image searches are also entertaining. Wow, some very algorithm crushing results.

Either way, I came across a paper I wrote 19 year's ago. Surprised no one updated it, as it is still very relevant. What struck me was that I put that much effort, research, heart, and soul into a personal educational production for the public just out of my own whim to produce nearly 60 pages when I was working a full-time job, doing law school full time, climbing, drinking, skiing, throwing frisbees, and socializing and fucking full time. It reminded me to someday dig in a library to find my 1 year thesis from college that sits in a library in my college and when I had to work my ass off to get one mandatory print book made up for it and I had 2 made, one to give to my Father to let him know that just because he hadn't seen me in 3 years, something came of it and he didn't pay for any of it. The laughs I would give myself I'm sure would be priceless. You have to laugh at your 19 y/o self.

But that effort, which I did for no other reason than a dedication to the pure symbiotic, intellectual, and naive passion is still damn relevant. And it's fun as fuck to read my prose and hear my voice through those words so many years later.

Sure, it's a jerk off, but I haven't been that amused in a long while.... except for the chick I was googling that got me there to do it: teacher, twitter account, 2 felony DUI's, well, that is the timeless nature of the tubes I suppose.

Except, it is the basis for this completely outlandish idea I have that will change the future of secondary education and service by building meaningful partnerships with professionals, engaged students, and teachers (and brave administrations) willing to take a risk to really contribute and appreciate the real world and bring students to what could be very life changing contributors on this little rock we keep spinning on.

Maybe other publications that I might write anew, in a different sphere, will survive a couple decades on google as well. Hell, those, and google, won't exist, but being a part of archive.org would be fun. I'll be dead anyway. The projects and ideas wont.

It very much resonates with me to a guy down in NM that has recently been going through his old ideas and projects and doing a very cursory documentary catalog of his thought with the help from a compadre.

Perhaps, from a very different perspective, his videos will give you the idea of what exactly I'm trying to express in this post. Be forewarned, he collects typewriters and office supplies, and designs and creates esoteric pinhole cameras. I am like that as well, but just a couple different degrees of absurdity from his axis. Still on the same plane of thought and projection.

So, deep google yourself, and change your own search results.

It might amuse you, it might amuse us, and that is a wonderful thing, don't you think?

So, from a 30 second meeting with a woman, to this post, to this e-mail, maybe, just maybe, good things can still happen, no?

I know this is a bit early to discuss this, but I have an idea I've been thinking about and would love your feedback.

    Ok, here goes:

So, I do a shitton of pro bono work to keep my soul happy, that means not only doing clinics for the seniors, but I do a ton of work for NW Colorado Legal Services. Like a ton, like won pro bono attorney of the year, useless plaques and medals and whatever. Here's my idea, let me know if I'm off base.

Most **** students will never compete. That's just honest. There is a huge contingent that are just there because of their parents, but those kids have some other spark in life. Their athleticism grants them the drive in other parts which is not wasted by not making the junior team , Olympics, etc.

I've got a new legal aid case that involves many facets. I think it would be a great student 2 month internship to see reality.

    Here's the raw deal:

Domestic violence wife, no English, translator only, provided, Laura (the interpreter), she's amazing, this woman I mentioned above, files for divorce. Super late on deadlines, place is a mess, husband gets suicidal, she calls the cops, he hits, etc.. Kids from multiple things, more etc.

It gets better. She has a 10 y/o son way on the autism spectrum with a service dog; Kinda in school? Maybe? I'll see, talk to teachers.
Another child from another brother; Daughter, still school aged. She's 14.

They still live in the same trailer in Edwards. All of them. Still, together.

    My thoughts:
I'm doing this on my own anyway, but it would be awesome to share real life with some students (BTW, HS math was my major in college back in MA before I moved here, went to law school, etc.). I taught for a short bit and bailed to work at MGH.

Have 1-3 students do this as a senior project? To see all the dimensions of what is going and going to go on. With each parent, with each child, with their living situation, access to "justice", with there is so much. Language, economics, real life living, etc. It's endless.

Wondering if you want to partner up on this idea of mine to incorporate a service project into the kids' lives?

I'd also like to teach a bit not only how to navigate this very difficult situation, but to incorporate photography somehow.

Let me know your thoughts about my unfunded (which is not needed at all), project.

I'm doin' it, but I can't think of a better way to pass on a reality and learning experience to another generation and also to implore and embed a lifetime of service.

Sorry to blab on, but those are the kind of ideas I think of all the time.

BTW, you should know that Bindu was one of my best friends. He probably died before you joined. I designed the blue wave tap at the brewery with his sticker that you met me at. Enjoy that.

    Cheers,
    [Me]

BTW, you need to clean up your google results. We've all been there, Bindu and myself included, I even represented him, but he's dead, and well, you are a good-hearted professional. There is no need for that junk to pop up.

Anyway. Tell me to shut up. It's just a fantastic idea on a project I'm just about to start and I think it could honestly change some students' lives if they knew what reality is actually like. Here, locally.

Thoughts. Let me know. The project starts soon. I can make space for folks joining in during the process if need be. I think this is important and no one knows this goes down on the reg.
