Not so much the act of buying one, but I'm amused to imagine the moment perhaps weeks later when the carbuyer realizes the awful color choice that he originally thought was so cool.

    - realizes yellow Hummer is actually School Bus Yellow

    - realizes dark hood + white roof is guaranteed to cause the car in front (there's always a car in front) to slow down

With all the spring skiing, I've become quite dark. A few days ago, near a local trailhead, some guy tried to get my attention, saying out loud "Hello, hello". As we approached each other, the suddenly blurted "Buenos dias". Turns out he was Chinese, doing a road trip around the SW with his wife and friends. But still....

Too bad it's "Lite". If it was "Original" it might be worth that much.
(Wonder how much I could get for my Washington Mutual T shirt. I'm not selling my Trump U t-shirt though. Saving it for 2024, just in case.)

Sitting in line at In n out wondering what all the horn honking was for. Line wasn't moving so the order taker guy walks over and starts knocking on the driver side window of the black car. Window was tinted so dark he couldn't see in. Driver was asleep or passed out. This went on for a solid 2 mins. Guy drove away just as a security guard was approaching. No one in front of him at that point.

When I was a resident we had an old attending who'd go out to his car at the end of the day--5PM-- and wake up in his car in the hospital parking lot the next morning. He had good eyesight--when he was assisting me through a case he could verbally guide me when he needed to just fine but if he actually tried to insert an instrument to help me sometimes the instrument didn't even make it into the incision, let alone down into the depths of the abdomen to the structure I was operating on. Fortunately at that point in my training I didn't need much help. Poor old guy died sitting on the crapper at work, got to have cpr with his pants around his ankles. Best to quit before things get to that point.

None of that is particularly amusing.

the current Houston professional sports scene.

Houston rockets, last place in the league.
cheating astros, last place in the division.
Texans, a dumpster fire organization with a shitshow side of their only hope QB pulling down millions of dollars that he coulda dropped nightly at strip clubs and bring home any woman he wanted but he goes on the cheap and hopes the massager will do him for a few hundred.

just hilarious how all three were at the top 2 years ago and now looks like the team other teams look forward to when in a slump.

Based on that I think it might be argued that the manual writers have actually gotten quite a bit smarter.

    that advertising still works.

i'm never buying a new car because the depreciation is too much or a new couch because they are too much, but i have seen enough of brie larson now; i want to have sex with her. i had no idea who she was before captain marvel and did not find her attractive then but have seen her enough i do now and thats advertising.

i am well aware she doesnt share the same desire for me.

Definitely some truth there, but a little unintended irony on that one as well. That truck would've rolled off the factory floor with either a 240/I6 or a 302/V8. Both have hydraulic lifters (nothing to adjust).

And the actual truck in the picture isn't even close to a stock '70 F100 (the lack of front leaf springs is a dead giveaway). A few seconds with the google brings up an engine bay photo with a modern V8 dropped in.

My parents had an early 60s F100. It was rusted out by about '76. And that was after a few years of using chewing gum to patch holes in the floor.

This could be in the shit that annoys you thread, depending on mood, but... One of these cereals is marketed as "healthy" and the other is a "sugar cereal" I grew up with.

I apologize that the cereals my kid eats aren't up to your standards.
