    Things That Amuse You

Unthreadworthy thread reminded me of this. My oldest invoked the Shaggy defense the other day, actually saying “I invoke the Shaggy defense”. I was amused enough to drop whatever it was.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

Which shaggy? “It wasn’t me” or “I got so high I just did what the dog told me to do”?

Had a day of coaching kids hockey today, like every other Saturday. Just realized a few minutes ago that my t shirt looked like this in the zip of my fleece...
Picture taken in mirror so yah, it's backwards.

Fell on my ass XC skiing, which was amusing because I was standing still at the time.
About an hour later, after skiing fairly hard and then driving home it started hurting pretty bad and there was a big deep lump, so I had my wife drop me off at the ER for an xray which showed no fracture, just a 10 cm hematoma which was what I expected. It did show there was still some active bleeding (but that seems to have stopped by now.) After a couple hours in the ER and another in the pharmacy waiting for some Percocet (tried Norco first but it didn't touch it) I got home and was feeling around my elbow and realized the nurse forgot to take out the IV before I left. So that was amusing. My wife's a nurse, so no problem getting it removed. I've been in Tahoe Forest ER twice and I can't say I was impressed either time--not just the IV thing either, which was 50% on me.

Looks like I'll probaby miss the WROD this week--which is probably a good thing if I can't stand up without hurting myself.

Ya know, this isn't the first time I've heard of someone completely eating shit while standing still on XC. Asking for a friend. And I've witnessed a few good ones. It's truly an amazing thing. One minute standing up. Bam!

Now that we know how dangerous the sport is, we should warn everyone. At best it only causes you to look twice at members of the same gender. At worst, your life is in peril.

Friend of mine, better skier than I am, occasionally falls over in the lift line. Vertigo. But he never falls skiing.

It's very discouraging and amusing to be passed on the nordic track by 10 year olds.

I get passed by 60-70 yr old Nordic skiers all the time. I dig it and can usually pick up some kinda tip just from watching old fux skate ski.

Hair appears easily long enough to reach the bowl while leaned over working the mixer. There's a reason that securing long hair when using rotary equipment is one of the most common topics in industrial safety.

Teaching in a community wood shop I see loose hair, untucked shirts, loose long sleeves, etc all the time. It's easy for people to forget.

I got new (to me) skis, and after turning my various junk drawers and tool chests and ski part bins over three times I finally relented and ordered another binding mounting drill bit so I could mount my own fucking skis.

I went to Amazon and found this:
