Driving around yesterday, seeing lots of cars with Christmas trees tied to the roofs... in the salt spray. What do people do with their salty trees when they get home?

Why do people line up at the tire store when you can make an appointment on line and skip the line, and your car goes to the head of the line. Oh well, as long as most people don't know that, better for me.

Why go to the tire shop at all when it only takes 35 minutes to swap out your own tires?

    Buying new tires or rebalance.

It takes you 35 minutes. It would take me much much longer, if I could get the lug nuts off at all. Plus I'd probably put the tires on the wrong sides.

Sounds like it would be amusing, though.

It takes me longer than 35 minutes, for the record. I’m usually in for almost an hour. This is outside on my shitty driveway, granted, but still less time than I’d spend scheduling an appointment, driving to the shop, waiting for them to do it, and then driving back home or to work or whatever. Plus I save a few bucks, do it when it’s convenient for me, and it makes me feel like more of a man.
    focus.

I gave up looking for an extra set of rims for the Forester after failing to find a single one at a decent price to replace my doughnut with a full-size spare.
Long term it would be significantly cheaper to bite the bullets and buy 4 new rims but for some reason I can't convince myself to do it.

I bought wheels that have multiple holes, so they theoretically will work on at least a few different lugnut patterns. I used to let Les Schwab do it, but now they charge for tires you've bought there, plus they upped the price for the swap of tires you didn't buy there. 3 cars every spring and fall, so I've got it down now, I even bought the torque wrench to get it right. I actually checked the clock yesterday to see how long it takes.
