Skiing the north couloir on McGown

It's been awhile since I posted up a trip report here on TGR. The ACL last year may have been a contributing factor.
Anyway, I got out with Chris Lundy of Sawtooth Mountain Guides and we hit this classic line. The conditions were much better than he had anticipated, but the snow was still variable. All-in-all it was a great day in the mountains. The upper 70-80 foot of the couloir is pretty steep and he had me on belay for that pitch. The photos are mainly of the ascent and "scenery". The video contains footage of the couloir descent, shot on GoPro.

Setting out from the inlet to Stanley Lake, the north couloir of McGown is seen ascending almost to the summit.

The approach thru the forest has lots of places to lose time and make wrong turns. One of the reasons why I went with the guided option for this adventure.

Sweet shot, but yeah, those woods look easy to get lost in.

^^^ We're looking mainly at some lines in the Lost River Range this spring, with a potential trip into the Gros Ventre range, SE of JH. Also, looking at Castle Peak in the White Clouds possibly in May sometime.

Corruption maybe? I'm eyeing a trip but not sure I can do it with family health issues
