Everything I have over 195 cms has been retired to fence duty. I recommend others also drop the ski length down below 200cms when you hit age 50 same as dialing back your DIN a click or click and a half..

And, every teenager who considers themselves a good skier should spend a little time on longboards and throw a heli (360) or two on 215s..

Many longboard days in my past..

This rule softening is a slippery slope. It's called LBD for a reason.

I'm guessing those things are not ideal for off-piste skiing

A 210 cm GS ski was the powder ski of choice back in the 70s and 80s. Downhill was too stiff but the GS had almost as much surface area and float. Miller Softs were marketed as a powder ski too.. I think the 200 cm Miller was a popular option off piste.

I think old school 210 are not equal to race prepped modern 210+ SG and DH skis....

I think we need a speed gun for this year's LBD to find out.

Sidenote- my boy was somehow convinced he could go even faster on the oldskool Hart 225 DH boards than he could on his modern 218 DH atomics (because 7+cm must be faster) and took both down to Bachelor last year. No contest really- the new boards have much faster bases and that set up with an X20 has to be the heaviest I've ever felt. He goofed around skiing them off the Summit but the coaches nixed him using a binder/ski that old in an actual race.

Two added to my LBD stable since last year. 218 K2 COMP-910 DH that measures more like 220 and the 215 Atomic SG from the BBI auction. They’ll join a 208 K2 GS race that I bought on the Crystal employee year end discount program offered by Vashon era K2 and 212 Dynastar DH

I am planning on coming. I dont have any long planks but if anyone has an extra pair for 27.5 boots (318mm BSL) I believe. No way Im going down Nash with them (it was some work on modern skis).

Is Alpental going to be open on the 28th? Have a ticket voucher, wondering if I should put it towards LBD or some other time.
