That’s and L300. Rear wheel drive with 4x4 capability. It’s got a short wheel base that will spin you quick if you are not careful.

Get an L400Spacegear. They started in 1994 and are now over 25 years old so they should be legal to import to the US. Bigger engine and has the option of rear wheel drive, all wheel drive (about a 60 / 40 split rear to front using an viscous coupling middle differential) as well as full 4 wheel drive with high and low transfer case.

I ran mine all winter in all- wheel-drive in the most awful winter conditions on undivided highways all over western Canada and always felt in control.

If they weren't RHD and damn near impossible to get parts for here in the States is be seriously interested in one.

Once you get used to RHD (it is actually pretty quick) you might get to like it like I did. On narrow and nasty roads you can keep an eye on the ditch side and be well away from the centre line when passing oncoming traffic. It’s very narrow with a ton of glass, great mirrors, and few blind spots. You can poke your head to the left and get close where your head would be in a normal NA automobile. Honestly I thought it was actually pretty good.

I've been a passenger in RHD cars a few times and just can't get comfortable there. I don't trust people not to come over the line anymore and I felt so exposed sitting in that seat. I can only imagine my wife sitting there half in tears, she's already a terrible passenger.

Meh... Delica's had their moment post-2011, but they're just not that practical for a lot of reasons. Still cool but, limited and usually overpriced once imported. I'm sure Michigan bro is looking to double-triple his investment on that one.

HiAce 4wd with better reliability, parts and a bit more space ftw.

Lots of Delica L4s and 3rd/4th gen HiAces in my town. I'd still take a LHD TownAce/Van/Surf over any of the JDM stuff.

    I hate RHD.

I saw lots of rigs in Costa Rica I'd gladly take over JDM's.

I actually learned how to drive in a RHD car, and I'd still rather not do it on right-lane roads.

I like em and all, but I have a REAL hard time swallowing what people want for these finally allowed imports after buying one so cheap myself in Japan. Once my homeys and I needed some wheels for just a few days in Okinawa. Picked up a kick ass HiAce 4wd with a MT for like $100 equivalent. Tooled around in it for like a week and then left a sign saying "free" with the keys on the dash. Since annual registration fees gets increasingly expensive for old vehicles, they were/are worthless there. Guess I've been spoiled.
