It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

They are cool, but only came in automatic in the us. I understand the parts are out there to convert to manual, and would be quite a cool car with the manual swap and a bigger turbo.

    sent from Utah.

A friend put an svx engine in a VW Type 2 crewcab ute pickup. Would've been fast if the gearing was right.

The biggest Subaru marketing mistake too. Read someplace that they spent north of 80k to build and had a hard time selling these (fully equipped / AWD) at sticker price around 36k. In 1992 -1997 you could buy a lot of car for that. Heavy, automatic trans, wheel bearing failures aside, their niche is a Grand Touring type. Hiway mileage is consistently around 27 due to gearing and a very low drag co-efficient. If you don't know a good SVX mechanic or fear delving into car issues, good car not to own. Some real nice ones out there with the 6 speed STI manual conversion which would be tits.

    Sweet. I love city courses.

Saw some footage from Mid-Ohio last weekend from a buddy - what a track for those cars!

The Jalopnik article brings up an interesting point: what if (pretty unlikely) you have a wreck on the bridge, arguably the fastest point on the course, and a car goes launching into the Cumberland?

Gents I need some input on car transport companies... I am getting ready to buy a car in Atlanta and need it delivered to Ohio... I have never gone this route before and when I do a search on line almost every transporter has great reviews... I have received quotes ranging from $450 to &795 and wanted to see if anyone here could recommend a shipping service that you have used... I would much rather get a recommendation from the Mag community than a Google search...

I happen to know a mag who lives in ATL and routinely laps the route to the North Coast in OH.

Failing that, ping Bobby Stainless, this is his wheelhouse.

Metrogistics is owned by Sonic. They do a good job.

    Are needing enclosed or open?

I passed 2 new Rolls on the way home yesterday that weren't driven by elderlies or hip hop stars. Has the brand gone down-market?

    Enough to target this crowd?

The one I saw at Whole Foods did appear to have 4 wheel steering which was kinda cool to see in the wild, and could be helpful when navigating narrow Forest Service Roads.

It would ruin the aesthetic. When father had his, we would just buy a new pair at the hill each time.

I assume he left the gear at the hill as well for some lucky poor to take home?
