This checks out. BMW design is so far off the rails these days it has to be because of drugs.

The team responsible for the 5 series is clutching it in the corner with the doors locked screaming for the mob to go away and it’s all they’ve got left.

I used to be a big fan in the early 90's but BMW lost their way many years ago when they decided to put M badges on every car model. Worse, their motorcycles have exhibited the same trend.

Boring, overwrought with tech that is prone to malfunctioning and interfering, and just not nice to look at anymore.

Why do they even put blinkers on BMW anyway? The owners never use them.

I was dyed in the wool Bimmer fan through about '13 when they had to buy back our last X5. My e90 330i (with the old N/A engine) was one of my most favorite cars of all time.

Now I couldn't agree more. It's like a computer game programmer got a hold of the design team. The wheels, which used to be a BMW strong suit now look completely mismatched on virtually all of their vehicles.

    M-everything.

    Did we mention the grilles?

Plastic engine bits prone to failure.

    Where's the iconic headlights?

As someone mentioned about their 4 series coupe recently, all the characteristic road feel has been sucked out of the cars, what used to be their defining trait.

Dead on Bmills. A friend bought one of the pseudo-M's and was raving about how he loves the exhaust sound when he's accelerating. I felt compelled to break the news to him that it was "enhanced." He gave me a disappointed look and said he didn't even know it was a thing. I feel bad now.

Loved the 1990 base model K75. That and the 1980s boxers were utilitarian elegant. They lost me after that.

Ha. I had a K75S, I forget what year though--maybe 90, in red, it was my first road bike.

Mine was a silver base model, no fairing. Color code was 666. No pics. Loved that bike. It was smooth, like riding a flying carpet. I could have used the extra horses of the K100, but I tried several and didn't like them. The K75 was so smooth.

The last great BMW was the mid to late 80s 635CSi.

e46 M3 was pretty great. Hell, e90 M3 was pretty great too with the V8 crammed in there.

We had a 2021 M5 Competition in the shop yesterday. I’m not a fan of the newer stuff but that thing was pretty bad ass.

If you want me to run a VIN, please post them here and not in my DMs. The DMs restrict character numbers and I cant send the full carfax.

Personally I'd take the etron which is the polar opposite of the ugly ass BMW. That Audi is absolutely gorgeous.
