Beater cars aren’t going to the dealership for service
And not the establishment repair shops.

Hell. My own cars don’t have carfax updates for oil changes.
And if there’s no comp, there’s no reason to report an accident.

Owners are wealthy enough to fix damage without reporting it to insurance. Doesn't show up on the carfax.

I wonder if the data collecting department at Carfax thinks Bobby is a lesbian?

If you're a serious buyer, he can get you one. Just don't be dicking him around to get cock pics, ok?

I think I've found my new ride if it checks out. Thank you for your help.
I almost forgot that I took a pic of this tracker for you the other day.

On the plus side, neither accident was bad enough to blow the airbags or brand the title, but I'd walk from that car. I'm sure there are better examples out there for not much more (if any more) money.

4th gen Outbacks can be oil drinkers, and the cvt is pretty terrible. But they tend to either be really reliable or total shitshows. Like Friday was tequila and strippers day at the factory.
Too late, apparently he couldn't wait and already bought it. Hopefully he got one of the good ones.

I didn't listen to my old man when I was a kid either. He'll find out pretty quickly if it consumes oil, and will just have to live with it.

If the CVT is smooth hot and cold, it's ok for now. The warbling UFO sound/whine is normal. The pre-2013 2.5L head gaskets can fail with catastrophic results, so he should keep a keen eye on the coolant and oil for contamination. And if the engine stumbles from suspected water ingestion shut it off before a full overheat.

Oh, and there was a recall for airbags. Surprised that isn't on the carfax. Maybe it was only other model years.

Other than that, they're generally very reliable and capable in snow (but understeer a lot). It's kind of an all or nothing proposition.

So this is VW AG's take on the Mikaela Shiffrin vs Range Rover race down a snowy hill?

This used car market truly sucks. There's nothing but garbage left until you get to the stuff under 10 years old at new car prices. You can find a $20k car that should be 12k and anything at 10k or under is barely worth 4k. I've been tossed off a half dozen used car lots now for asking "so how much is this $2500 car?" This sux.
