if you look at the BAT auction map for 928s - prices are all over the fucking place.

kinda crazy to me you can get a 90s V12 Ferrari for less than a 928.

That black 86.5 that wraps up in 45 mins is a beauty. I like the smaller spoiler at the back better than the s4 wing. And it's a manual.

Looks like its only the rear ac knob, but the Alpine doesnt work either! Which brings the number of coincidences between that and our old 86 saab turbo even higher.

I can smell that interior right now.

Hey cat, I had one of those BMW e6x model cars for a while. They are nice. But man, what a pile of shit. So many things went wrong with it. Water pump. Valve cover gasket. Fingers in the window sensor, lift gate wiring harness, asc steering wheel angle sensor, self levelling suspension air compressor, abs sensor, ignition coil, radiator, expansion tank.

Well, that will go halfway to the ~$40K in repairs the poor bastard paid over the last 2 years. Assuming all that is legit.

Every time I get the hankering to buy a old something, I visit BaT to remind myself what a PITA it is to own an older car.

Oh, the rear brake light frame needed to be pulled apart and cleaned. Halo headlight bulb (pain in the ass that one.). Oil pan leak.
By the time I went to get rid of the car I was so fucking sick of it. Guy came to test drive, and car is runnng great, and he asks if the sunroof works, (never gave us trouble) and sure enough it opens, and then wouldn't close. Took like 10 tries before it would close. He low balled me and I took it. Just wanted it gone. Before something else went wrong.

It's a shame, because my experience with older BMWs, e34, e30, has been so positive, everything always works even though they are 25 years old.
E46 not as good as e30 or e34, but way better than e60 and E90.

I would not buy any 3 series BMW after 2005, or any 5 series after 03.

An older good customer of ours owned it for a few years, he took good care of it. But, I'd agree with BB, those cars are not very reliable.

I tackled every issue on ours as they arose, and when we bought it, had complete service records from new, and it was just one thing after another. Very nice car, drove very nicely, if a bit bland. Very comfortable. But I would sit there and worry about what was going to fail next.
