I know. I don't have the skills and or coin to do that. I will have to dream instead.

I'm worried this will sow confusion with the Mary Kay crowd.

Hahaha. That's hilarious. Ah, yes. The ol' Pinto. Used to know an old timer mechanic back in the 80s who somehow swapped the 4 banger with what I believe might've been a 289 out of a Mustang. Thing was an absolute BEAST at the drag strip. Always got a crack out of that.

Is that considered pre-emptive paint for what will happen in a crash ?

Ah man, the guy that survived that crash/fire and won the lawsuit was a team manager/assistant coach on our Pop Warner team. Dude was way fucked up and deserved every penny he got.

Maser has gone noticeably down-market. The Ferrari license is now waaaay too expensive for the good people at Mattel.

As James Piotrowski would call it in his listing: Pre-flipped

    It's a feature.

You could get a 302 into a Pinto and a Chevy small block into a Vega. As often as not it was a 260 (Ford) or a 215 Olds/Buick with a big ass blower. They were pretty popular builds when I was a kid.

Chevy actually sold a Vega (OK, they labeled it as a Monza) with a 350 in it. My younger brother had one. Couldn’t keep rear tires on that thing. I seem to remember it having a spider decal on the hood from the factory.

They reworked the Monza to fit a variety of engines so it could become a GM family car. The only division other than GMC that didn't use it was Cadillac. I remember a neighbors Monza drag car with a big block and it had only minor cutting done to get it in there. I preferred the suspension setup in the Starfire over the others but I also like the Capri far better than the Mustang II, something about nice vs teeth rattling.

Chevy Monza, what a POS ! Prime example of US auto industry drinking their own cool aide to the point of getting destroyed by the Japanese.

Bobby's used car lot and Free Carfax

My 72 vega wagon had the aluminum foil 4 banger with a 3 spd manual that had the tallest 3rd gear. You could hear it rusting. Mushrooms helped with that.

Starting to shop for a used plug in Volvo XC 90 for the wife. Do KBB or any of the sites give a semi-accurate price right now? Or is the market still too crazy?

IMHO - Always start with KBB.com then it’s all about comps when looking for values. But that’s always advising customers on sell side - but yeah I think KBB.com is still accurate.

My wife works in the industry. Absolutely no one uses KBB. They'll use NADA for reference, but more often, will work off of comps.

As I've been keeping my eye on a certain wagon across the country I've noticed that they're all priced within ~$1,000 or so of each other and none of which are even close to what any of the online valuation tools say they should be, so yeah, market is still stupid.

Fuck the books. I take the sticker, subtract $37, then say, "take it or I walk."
Bought my last two cars that way.
