Those small Japanese campers are the nads. I guess the US crash test and other approvals keep them out, or do they just don’t make them at all for LHD markets?

It's not that, it's that the market here for that size/type of minivan doesn't really exist beyond enthusiasts. Mitsubishi did try to sell them in the North American market back in (whatever years) and nobody bought them. There were some that went to other LHD countries, but very few survivors are left at this point.
The other reason is that the Toyota minivan was better in every way, with a full network of dealers.
That said, imported JDM Delicas are popular in BC, and that spills over into in western Washington. There are probably a half dozen in town that I see on a regular basis.

Indeed.
I wonder how much of BaT is a scam. I get my buddy to bid up the price and make some comments."timberridge is terminally vapid" -- a fortune cookie in Yueyang

How dare you besmirch the ethics and integrity of used car auctions.

They were probably already in trouble or getting there pre Rona. Then CA shut down all the dealers and they could only sell on online dealer auctions. They were left with wholesale pricing only to revenue cash and keep the thing afloat.
Plus consignment is a pain in the ass."I don't pretend to have all the answers, and I think there's something to be said for that" -One For The Road

That is insane in a suv.
In my limited seat time across the “fast-suv” category I was blown away by how much better the Cayenne is than it’s competitors. It must take an army of engineers to make that thing drive the way it does and not like a bloated ute.I still call it The Jake.

Well they do have half a century of experience getting the 911 not to drive like a rear engine car. If you just reverse the equations to have the engine in front...

A friend had two from the 70s: a duck tail RS 2.7 pre-crash bumper, and a 930. The former still drove like the engine was in the trunk. The first time I drove it through some empty twisty roads, just on the edge of traction, he said "you can go faster, just remember to steer it with your right foot"
