I saw one of those Murano convertibles in person this last summer and they are truly horrific.

Bobby's used car lot and Free Carfax

Seeing one of those Murano convertibles a few days ago was the inspiration for that post, that has to be one of the worst cars I’ve ever seen.

No doubt, but it also takes a particularly vein lobotomy patient to buy one.

Yes, it’s not an exciting car... looking for something that’ll be a bare-bones second car for my family. Bad idea to consider a vehicle that had clearly been used as a lease vehicle for Lyft? Thank for the help!

I've been saying for some time now that the 80's and 90's heyday of SUVs is going to be the next class of cars to go full-looney on the collector and BaT scene. (Not that we aren't seeing it already with '97 Defenders and 80 series Cruisers)

The designs were better than they'd ever be, the average buyer is now in their 40s and 50s and has ample disposable income and nostalgia for the late 80's-90's is really starting to hit.

If it weren't already impossible to find my old girl, or a relatively similar example in serviceable shape, articles like these aren't helping.

But the trouble with Pathfinders is simply finding them in any condition. Nissan sold nearly 80,000 of them in just the first two years. So it's odd that so few remain. This generation Pathfinder seems to have been used particularly hard.

Pretty sure you're right about that dent. I get the impression, based on the fact that every single one I saw was done that way, that there's a requirement to fully cover the tires when you go larger than stock over there (pic was taken near Vik on the southern coast of Iceland). For what it's worth, I've never seen so many land cruisers on 40s or larger tires in my life. That must be the vehicle to own over there, though I did see the midst ridiculous lift on a sprinter ever. Shit would've made even the most well financed trustifarian jealous.

Might be a requirement in the USA or most states here as well and not just "larger than stock" tires. I have a vehicle that bought NEW had tiny trim over the rear wheels (maybe a few mm's thick and about the length and width of a finger) just to comply with the fender-tire width rules. When I lifted my Jeep I was told the same thing and and sized the backspacing to keep them tucked without hitting the suspension.

It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

Ugh. And I even see plastic blocking up the "vent holes" on that one too. Unless it has some sort of active shutters for running in winter, which would be kind of cool. But I doubt that's what's going on there so yeah, super lame. Even trucks aren't immune to this trend. Sad.

Old lady two doors down just got a new Toyota Avalon. The grill on that thing is freaking comical. What's bizarre to me is that it actually may be boomers and old people driving this trend! Was talking cars with my mom the other day since I was shopping and she was going on about how much she likes the new Avalon and various Lexus's (Lexi?). Funny that me, the young buck, prefers the vastly more conservative designs of the 90s. I still think that the Japanese and German cars of that era look SOOOOOO good (most American cars still sucked tho). More understated. More elegant. Clean lines. Not faking anything. Maybe I'm just nostalgic, but I think they were objectively cleaner looking. We're now experiencing the modern equivalent of tail fins or worse with these retarded grills and fake tailpipes.
