I am a tall, heavy guy. I also have a 325BSL....and possess some bacon.
Just some food for thought.
Sent from my iPad using TGR ForumsIt makes perfect sense...until you think about it.
I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

I'mma go out on a limb here and state that the max rider weight for these is about 185 lb, if you ski fast and flex skis.
Clydes complain about these pushing, and they should be on SuperGoats.
Skinnies use these as proper hovercraft.

So I’m guessing I had a bit of a hard time with the 189 demo goats — they felt pretty large and in charge, and I normally like long skis— at BBI because they had a funky tune? Or my legs were shot? Or perhaps it was the lunch beer? I’m 5’7’’ and weighed 190ish, I think I ski fairly fast. Too $hort? 189 dynastar Protos felt a ton more nimble by comparison
I own and enjoy 196 Rens, 194 Devs, 193 MVPs, 189 Protos etc

The 189 got stiffened in the tip, from what I hear. Helps to keep it from plowing in lighter density pow., maybe less pronounced rocker, others more knowledgeable than I can chime in. That’s the only place I had the effect happen on my 191’s. They killed it in heavy snow and chop. Some were suggesting the plow effect is from technique but since I ski protest and another more upright/centered’ish balanced style ski, it definitely was not technique, esp since I played with my stance to try to alleviate it to no avail.
Someone buy these skis, they rip.

I think it depends a bunch on the terrain and type of snow conditions you are skiing most often. Alpental is pretty specific animal in that regard. These skis will absolutely charge, they are super damp, and heavy, they are very capable at speed, and they really shine when pow/hot pow turns to chop. IMO, they are great If you are skiing at areas where everything is fallline and gravity fed with a minimum of traversing.

I had 189 goat and sold it in favor of my 2014 186 which I love. It felt very different and not as centered if that makes sense. I had it out on a variable day and went back to car and got 186. I also did not really like assemetry.
But 191 is likely perfect for 190-200 lb guys and I’m only 175. I have 192 protest and 189 toons which are just easier. I am tempted by new C & D but assemetry concerns me. Maybe I can demo with super chicken or someone else in the PNW since I love baker and always wanted to hit Stevens or Alpy.

I bought a pair of 189s in March. You are correct, they are a much bigger ski and stiffer all around than older models (I had a pair of 186 10/11 BGs). Standing on end, the 189 is 1-2cm longer than my 190 Lotus. I have to drive these harder and with more traditional technique than old BGs until higher speeds, but they are on autopilot and require less input once up to speed. Haven't experienced the plowing effect on the new pair. I believe the 189 has a longer effective edge than the 191 because of the asym geometry too...

Poor judgement on my part, sorry all. Wasn't trying to ruffle feathers, just trying to add some relevant info to the thread. I deleted the link to said post.
