Anybody rented a car in USA and dropped off in Canada?
Possible and affordable?

Looks like, if you even can, it's likely to require heavy documentation and be expensive. But no, I've never done it.

Depends on what you consider affordable. I rented for a week with pickup and dropoff in Spokane, and a few days into the trip had a change of plans and needed to go to Vancouver (I was in Nelson at the time). Called to ask about the possibility of dropping in Vancouver, I think they quoted me $1200 on top of the normal rental fee. I decided to drive back to Spokane and fly to Vancouver instead.

Tried to do it a number of years back and it wouldn't work. Ended up dropping the car in Seattle, flying to Van and renting another one. Wasn't that expensive or onerous.
