broke my TNC's at Stowe with markers and Lange Yellow Fever Tii's. didn't know I was maching into a bump field and checked up hard, snapped right behind the binding. Paid $200 on pro form , so wasn't too pissed. we were staying with Johnny Morris of Mad Mt Tavern fame and he seemed impressed with my ability to snap a ski, kinda worth it.

The materials, waterproofness, water repelency, breathability and insulation are way better with new stuff.
I find with a lot of new stuff even though the things you list are arguably if not demonstrably better the overall quality of the product, the feel and construction, is not. Chintzy. Especially zippers.

TNF has resurrected the Steep Tech name, over in England, anyway.

Not much in the collection that looks that functional.

Me circa '94 or '95. I saved up for this jacket in high school as a bus boy. Duct tape is holding my lens in at the bottom of the frame.

I was going to reply, 'yeah not my best look' and then I thought of all the mismatched dirtbag outfits I had in the 90s. now I'm thinking this whole outfit was my best 90s ski look by far.

I still put at least 20 days a year in my Steeptech suit. Fits like a glove.

It's a bad wreck when a glove comes off. Older model before Steep Tech. Loved this jacket.

I really don’t know, but imho the correct era of a Scot Schmidt hall of fame exhibit would be the yellow fartbag and the sx91s and K2 longboards.

Good story here. It would be sweet if TNF made a coffee table book covering the Steep Tech history, design, media and eventual fashion crossover.
