First, can also vouch for TMS as a great local shop run/staffed by knowledgeable enthusiasts.

Second, put my name on the list, and will prepay once I figure out that brake size issue. If you asked me last week, 100. After the past 4 days in Tahoe -> 110+. I guess that's my answer...100. Just need to forget all that snow...

    Thanks again,
    Paul

Dunno how I managed to delete my original post, but here to confirm that I have sent in my prepayment to TMS and updated the spreadsheet accordingly.

Also, went with the 100mm brakes not so much because it reflects my actual touring/skiing needs, but mostly to condemn Tahoe to tons of snow for the rest of you. You can thank me later. (Actual deep snow not expected until after I have Shifts mounted on <100mm skis. Dammit.)

    Cheers,
    Paul

Is there a consensus if we can bend 110mm brakes to fit a 115mm ski?

Yeah thats what we are thinking. Bend them, or they just fit well enough as is. Better than having 120 brakes that are too wide.

It'll work. But for 120mm it'll probably not

How the hell the latest and greatest hybrid binding is being sold on discount before it's really available is beyond me.
No wonder the ski industry is in the shitter.

Bulk orders are discounted in basically every industry.

Especially if you're willing to risk putting up $$$ months before the product is available.

It allows the shop to place a bigger order than they would have otherwise... pre production. Makes sense - most industries work the same way.

Retail in general has a 50% margin.
Solomon still gets their wholesale price.
This retailer gets 30% instead of 50. But these are interweb customers, many of whom would never buy from this Tahoe shop.

The interesting part is Salomon allowing the publicly disclosed discount.
This hoses all the local shops or big online retailers. But, it’s also guerrila marketing, and gets the bindings in the hands of core bro brah skiers.

So yes, retail ski is on the shitter, but so is every retail brick and mortar that competes with the web.
    . . .

Salomon isn't worried about us. This forum is public, but not really. It's niche. Local shops elsewhere will be just fine trying to sell such a buzzed about product. And besides, a lot of us are already supporting a local shop in this case. Everyone I've talked to says Dave / Tahoe Mountain Sports are worth supporting.
