You get the best of the best atheletes at a world cup, so you can get more of the best skiers
Whereas some of these atheletes are only getting into the olympics because they represent a country but they aren't really very good,
it may not even be their country ... there are 6 Canadian white guys playing hockey for south koreaLee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know

The part that's so baffling to me is, she had to show up for a gazillion halfpipe events all around the country for the past few years. Obviously she's not training like a serious athlete - but how do you spend all that time and all that money and not manage to get at least a little bit good at it just by osmosis or pure accident?

my sentiments... but mostly fuck everybody that gets pissed about her.
so what if she found a creative way to get what she wants? in this life, you live for yourself. too many people worried about what other people think, or "doing it the right way." if you're one of the people with your panties in a bunch, then why don't you get off your ass and show us your goal? she's having fun and i thought it was great.https://GearLobo.com

We need video of the North Korean skiers who were 50+ seconds over the winning time on the downhill.
I appreciate creative ways to get what you want, and she is not the only Olympian to exploit some loopholes, but she seems to have exploited every loophole. Clearly, she has some money to burn and folks will always get irritated when the rich can buy whatever the hell they want, even if it's a seat at the Olympic table.

a 17yo Oregon kid from Meadows Race Team skied GS for the Phillipines
i don't think he'd skied a WC level race before the Olympics
he finished 70th out of 110 competitors (3rd youngest in the field), 31 secs behind the winner

All around the world. Must have quite the trust fund.
Is Sarah rolling or laughing hysterically from the other side? While it sucks she made a mockery of what Sarah fought hard to get in the games and taken seriously, I'm guessing with her sense of humor she probably would get a kick out of it.

There was a comment in the other thread, something to the effect of "If Andy Kaufman was still around, this is pretty much what he would have done".
Spit out my drink at that one.

That's Asa, he is a 1st yr FIS skier here in the PNW, not bad but not one of the best based on his finishes. Another kid from Mission Ridge was in the GS for Malaysia (67th?), and yet another competed for Brazil (DNF).
There is an Olympic standard that has to be met, but it's only 140 pts for both SL and GS. In the speed events it's much more stringnent- 80 pts for SG and DH which is why the fields are in the 40-60 competitors instead of 80-100+ and the times off the back are much closer.Move upside and let the man go through...

I would have some respect for her if she at least tried for some trick even if she crashed. I would think that someone young semi athletic with money to burn could take a year and learn to go bigger than the 8 year olds I see goofing around in the pipe. I like that there are people who have no chance of winning out there especially if they are from countries that are out of the winter sport climate. But put in a tiny bit of effort to learn the sport. I am sure she will make a great social media influencer.
