I wasn't familiar with opening act Benjamin Clementine but he was also really good and fresh and different, do yourself a favor and read up on him and maybe watch a couple videos, the guy is a talent for sure and he's getting a lot of recognition (which I wasn't aware of before, but have since read up a bit).

The J. Pace Italian deli right across the street turned out to be a good option for food, there's good vendors in the venue (Redbones BBQ, Pizzeria Regina, etc.), but the deli was good, and pretty cheap, and there's plenty of seating inside but it's kind of hidden when you're in the place, we didn't realize it was there until we went to use the bathroom so we ate at some tables they have outside on the sidewalk, which was fine. Just a heads up.
Yeah, I figure him to be a strict setlist guy so once is enough. I've seen his performance on Colbert and get what you mean about it appearing simple, austere even.

Someone else just told me to make sure we see the opener.

Sound was ok? Last two shows at the pavillion the sound has sucked...like really sucked to the point we said we'd never go back. Both shows had heavy bass, so that may have been a factor.

Yeah it sounded fine. Could've been louder to drown out the drunk chicks behind us yammering at the top of their lungs for the first half of the show, but other than that it was clear and sharp. Not super bass-heavy music for the most part though. Their video setup is pretty shitty though.

Saw them tonight in Oakland. Very different than last time I saw David Byrne 15-ish years ago in SF. damn fun. Was within 15 feet of the stage.

Regarding sound level, I thought the whole mix was too loud, which follows the theory that many veteran sound engineers/mixers have long term career-based hearing loss. Interesting to read on this thread that it was not loud enough at some venues.

I have attended this event. It was just awesome. I enjoyed a lot there. I got the ticket after facing many difficulties, Finally got from Florida Ticket Station Coupons, now waiting for another show.
