Wanted to share my summer project...bringing a 2001 Super Air Nautique back to life! She was in very rough shape and had been neglected for several years, but the bones were good.

What I've done so far:
-New injectors, plugs, wires, distributor, fuel pump pickup line, fuel regulator, etc. (Engine was running but barely)
-New vinyl interior + deckadence flooring
-Gelcoat wet sand and buff
-2200 lb fully automated reversible pump ballast install
-New sound system with 2 amps and a 2 battery system with automatic charging relay
-Tons of little stuff including GPS cruise, gauges, swim deck restoration, etc.

Going to be doing a full trailer restoration over the winter if I get the courage to get the boat off the trailer.

Yep, I had it out on Utah lake a handful of times while I was slowly figuring out the engine issues (it idled ok on a hose but couldn't get over 1500 rpms under load). Now that it is running great we've been out on Deer Creek 3x. Still dialing in the surf wave but getting close! My 2 year old loves to ride the tube with mom or dad. Hoping for lots of great family memories on this boat!

I grew up sailing and extensively cruising the PNW with my dad who was a damn fine sailor (and I think this is salty enough not to have him rolling too much in his grave about me becoming a "stink-pot-er"). This is a bucket list item/lifelong dream come true. I always had some reason (or person) or another not to do it. It's the one thing I think I'd deeply regret not doing on my deathbed, so I fucking did it.

1977 Tollycraft 26. Took a while to find the right one at the right price, but she showed up. Meet the PV 'Nordic Mist'. I call her Misty, and I'm in love.

I got a call today from the sales guy who sold me my boat, the big Newport (RI) Boat Show is coming up and they don't have any boats to show people! Sold them all and their orders are delayed because of outboard engine shortages. Wanted to know if they could use mine for the show and I wouldn't mind them owing me a solid but we have people coming in town that weekend, so, nope.

They offered to detail it, give it back full of gas and perform the next service and that's worth some money but I'd rather have the boat here.

Thanks Ice! They call this model the biggest little boat on the water. The made nearly 900 of them, most still in the PNW. 10' beam, very comfy accommodations for 1 or 2, can do 3/4 in a pinch. I'll take some interiors when I go tomorrow for more tinkering.

Lots of chatter about speed in these things and peeps who try to go faster, but I'm choosing to cruise at about 9 mph SOG, trawler speed. Seems to be the sweet spot for speed/burn. She will get on a plane but the fuel burn is even stupider. 3/4 mph hour more and the burn probably doubles and is exponential from there. Keep the revs lower and preserve the (aging) power plant. The whole idea for me is to not be in a hurry and enjoy the trip as much as the arrival.

Got sucked into this video on another site. Not boat porn, more the opposite since a nice Contender got trashed, but boat-related. Long story short, these guys make fishing videos for their YT channel. They went to this island expecting to camp for 6 days, fish, and film it.

In the middle of the night on the 3rd day the stern anchor failed, the boat swung around and hit the reef, the tide went out, it tipped over and when they woke up it was capsisized and they were stranded. So they had food, camping gear, emergency gear, battery chargers etc. and they just did what they do and filmed it.

Excluding rafts and kayaks, my family is boatless for the first time in my life. My dad sold his boat for stupid money this spring. He claims it didn't cost him a penny to owning it for 5 years including operating and dockage costs. I'm trying to talk him into a small center console.

Similar deal here. Mostly boatless (restoring my old 13 ft Whaler) for the first time in 25 years. I used the Intrepid for almost 6 years and made some good money. NOT enough to cover operating costs + storage, but good money. If I figured in my time and effort, it was probably still a loss, but I learned a lot. Mostly I learned that 30 ft plus boats are really fun to look at and ride in, but are a bitch to own.

New boat report- tr! Purchased a new to us kingfisher 1825 this spring. After playing with it all summer- mostly tube rides and swim platform we took it to the North Tweedsmuir prov park. The trip entails a little channel out of Andrews Bay, out into Ootsa Lake (the Nechako Reservoir) up whitesail arm to the Chicaman Portage- run by the Cheslatta Carrier Nation- they tow your boat over the 1k portage and you are in Eutsuk Lake where a strain of piscivorious rainbows can grow to 15lbs. Ours turned out to be a bit smaller. 5 days of camping, fishing and exploring ensued.



The ‘Patricia Lynn’ doesn’t compare to most of the boats in this thread but it works great for us. We hit some winds on the way back and had to deal with that while dodging deadheads in the reservoir made this noob a bit nervous but it is incredibly stable and confidence inspiring. Also helped that a buddy had his fam and a 20ft Thunder Jet to guide us through the swells.
