Any of you boaters out there have experience connecting an AIS receiver to Navionics?

Heh. Not sure how it broke loose, but I bet there will be a few swamped craft and/or failed bilge pumps discovered with the current storm deluge occurring in the Fraser Valley/Vancouver Is.

PNW boating FB pages have these pretty frequently right now. That would so suck.

I wouldn’t call that a boat ramp, but it is enthralling. Something must have been going on prior or they wouldn’t have been filming.

Shred there's a link higher above to Miami Boat Ramp Fails, he wasn't talking about the video just above.

Missed this until now. No idea if you can do that, but I don't get why you'd want to when Navionics will track you without it. Just curious what the point would be.

i rolled up at pre dawn the other morn monday to git the fish on
the drifty sits on 2 elavated rollers on the trailer and is a pretty easy 1 person launch and take out
my boat cover goes under the trailer strap so i need to undo it
neglected to put it, the strap, back on
backed up and sent the boat ghost rider style damn near 100 yards out into the reservoir
jumped out of the truck swam about 1/2 way out to it in waders
realized it wasnt a good idea swam back
got wet shit off and warmed up in truck
called shindler told him i was coming by to mooch his sup for a rescue mission
a couple dudes in a canoe showed up as i was about to leave
i beer and nugged em up to pull the boat back to shore
dug out the oh shit bag out of the boat changed clothes and fished till 2
    killed another phone though

That sounds like every start to the season when my father in law would put the boat in the water.

Except no beers and nugs, way more cussing and usually the car and or boat almost sinks too.

But just like that. Every fucking year.

the water temp was a good 10 degrees warmer than the 32 outside air
    and the catching didnt suck

WOW. The Peking was 73' shorter and 1k tons lighter than the FFG I was aboard in the USN.

We were often out running, skirting, or dodging western Pacific typhoons and Bering Sea cyclones. We also often got thoroughly bashed around which built character.

But we didn't have to climb high into the superstructure in heavy seas thankfully.

    Very cool video, thanks.

The narrator became a pretty well-known guy later in life: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irving_Johnson

And from the comments, apparently the ship Peking, after many years in New York tied up by the Fulton Fish Market, is now in Hamburg harbor and has been beautifully restored

I love the classics about the sea and traveling by boat.: Lord Jim, Heart Of Darkness, Moby Dick, Billy Budd, The Old Man And The Sea, The Sea Wolf, Robinson Caruso, etc. Sooo good!

You should try the Patrick O'Brian Aubrey/Maturin novels if you haven't already. Top notch.

Great books. I need to reread the series again.

    Other good nautical reads:
    * The Boat Who Wouldn't Float by Farley Mowat - Farley buys an old wooden boat, humor ensues
    * Grey Seas Under by Farley Mowat
    * Blue Water, Green Skipper by Stuart Woods

Nice, didn't know there were so many boating mags. Guess I should have guessed that others would pair the most expensive, time consuming opposite season sports together.

Also just finished ripping out and refinishing the interior vinyl. Makes a huge difference. Wish I had the "before" pic - ripped, worn, and tired.
