I mean, it's 4 tons of water, but aight. Grampa sounds like he knows what's doing. He also sounds like a cool guy.

He’s definitely a rad guy [former Navy] and a main figure in my life but you have me questioning if I heard or remember correctly. I know it’s custom and more of a result of the shape they created mid ship and bow. He’ll putt on those trips and really liked the seaworthiness it provides but I could be off some or he embellished. I’m sure I remember correctly that the new engine is not only faster but more fuel efficient, has more torque, and was needed /money well spent in his opinion.
My grandma has had about enough of it though.. she’s at a point where she needs to wear a life-jacket constantly on board. And most of my fam is questioning the outings.

Well, whatever. A big tank. Sucks getting old. My FIL bought himself a new car when he was 88 and everybody was like holy shit. They ended up taking the keys away from him. That kinda sucked.

I just got back from a nice half-day outing with my wife and son, stellar weather here finally.

If that rule doesn’t work out, you can give the gift of this lovely pillow.

Ha. I should get one of those. And give it to my wife. And tell her to give it to me. But she'd probably pout, like she did yesterday when I barked an order at her because she was just standing there looking completely clueless when I have given her a very simple task to do while docking and have gone over it at least 20 times before. It shouldn't be easier to do it single-handed than it is to have "help". But it is.

Ummm... reason #3 or 4 we don't have the boat anymore. If she cared to learn a thing about what to do, this would be more fun. Moving into other thread territories though.

Not a door, just an open space. Not sure what was in mind for it when the galley was rethunk but quite possibly a microwave. I should look to see if there's a 110 outlet under there. One of the few spaces on her I haven't poked my head into.

Yeah, the Morse's are great. Only issue I'm having is that the throttle on the lower helm slips back. Have to set it on the flying bridge, then it stays. Pulling the cover off didn't reveal any simple tensioning.

I'm a full subscriber to that theory of docking. And I still struggled when brit was on board. Just gotta fuck it up enough times to figure it out.

I think he sorta got it. Not my problem anymore, but I would really rather not see him fuck up that perfect hull. Those Morse controls you have will help. Those are smoooove.

Pics? I bet it's a 100 gallon water tank. One common weight distribution upgrade strategy with the 26es is to mount a water tank under the cabin sole just aft of the v-berth. Originally they have all the tankage well aft of the house, and the water tank (maybe 30-50 gals?) is right in front of the transom. Not ideal for keeping the bow down at speed.

Apache Warpath #1 is supposed to show up on Bring a Trailer later this week. This is hull 001 for the 41' boats. It was piloted to the 1984 APBA offshore championship. Wild history including an infamous owner/driver.

First week you are bound to bounce it off something a few times- even with a small boat. On a windy day you're doing fine if don't have to replace anything.

Going to rig it for fishing?

What a crazy era. Guys were openly burning huge piles of drug money in auto and boat racing.

Have you ever seen the Brickel area of Miami? How do you think all those skyscrapers were paid for?

Spoke to gramps. Yah I was wrong on tank. He’s got two 52 gallon tanks. Also his year is ‘81 - sworn he got it the year I was born. The new engine is a 496 big block.
He’s in dry dock now for a fiber repair and buff after rubbing ground island hopping. Plus needs new fuel pump.
If you let me know when passing thru LaConner I’ll see about linking you up.

Damn. Floated through on Thursday after 4 hours in whiteout fog in Saratoga Passage from Everett. Needed a break at that point. Hope I can connect with him sometime!

Nope. Will be looking into it though. Got any budget radar suggestions? That honestly scared the fuck out of me. It was so thick there were moments when my perception made me think I was climbing a hill. I lost GPS signal at one point and got completely turned around. When it came back I was headed straight to shore. I was so focused on seeing whatever was in front of me that I didn't notice the compass course had changed.

Meanwhile, the rest of the trip has been easier than that and wonderful. This is a couple of hours ago after landing in Langley, WA.

You’ll also want any radar that you get to overlay your chart plotter for much easier user interpretation.

Yeah just see what the options are from whatever company your plotter is made by first and if one of those will work for you do that. I'm all Garmin and it's not like I'm a Garmin fanboi but at least it all works fine together.
