31' Baby Garwood. I talked myself into a ride around Newport Harbor in one of these back when Arnold and Maria were still a thing. A single handed trans-Atlantic sailboat race was finishing and huge yachts were everywhere . With the dual V-8's throaty drone resonating through the mahogany hull, everyone stopped and turned to watch us go by.
A few people feel the rain. Most people just get wet.

Yes! Now we're getting somewhere.
Wow, just went to pull an image off Oyster's website and it looks like they've entered receivership. Shame, they made some absolutely stunning yachts.
Anyone else paying attention to these guys right now?

Not having any luck digging up old pictures so this one will have to due. Girlfriend's dad used to build motors for top fuel drag boats. The team held the top speed record in the 230 or 240 MPH range in the late '90s which is pretty cool. Drivers need good life insurance.

I knew a guy who was lead mechanic on Miss Budweiser in the late '80 and early '90's. Not sure this is one he worked on, but this era:

Very cool. Planes on water. Even people that didn't know boats knew Miss Budweiser.

Thinking about getting rid of my ski boat and getting a pontoon.

That is a kewl pontoon, you would stand to get a lot more use and time on the water out of one of those as opposed to a ski boat.

For you wooden sailboat fans, the Sizzler is a piece of work that is always impressive to see on the water here in CDA.

Beautiful boat Wooley. The upkeep on those is not for the faint of heart, truly remarkable. CDA is home to StanCraft http://stancraftboats.com who builds wooden boats. A good friend of ours now owns Lady Lola who was a tender for her larger yacht. Torpedo rear and dual V8's, an eye turner for sure.

I likey. My family had a '89 or '90 18' F&S by a company called ProCraft. 150 Merc "black max." Lots of fish caught, lots of riders towed. With the 150 it would do maybe 60 at full trim and didn't handle the chop that well. Great fishing rig even with the windshield and smaller casting decks. Only thing it lacked was that there were no full length rod vaults, you could use the ski locker in the bottom though. It had this goofy hatch on the front that hid the trolling motor. Seemed like a good idea until you actually have to use it. Extra few seconds became a pain in the ass when it was windy.
I remember a dude who built a wooden windshield onto his Skeeter because he got sick of the wind in his face.
The old ProCraft looked like this (cept this is a 20'er with prolly at 200 or 225):
If we're gonna wear uniforms, we should all wear somethin' different!

These two books are on opposite ends of the boating spectrum but are both great reads for those interested in design and construction.
