Back during the Indians' epic late 90s sellout streak of 455 straight games at Jacobs Field there was a beer vendor up in the cheap seats with a voice that carried across the stadium that I can still hear in my mind to this day.

And I'm sorry, but this effort to equate the cheerleaders with the players (they're professional athletes!) is a joke. Just shows that people have no clue what goes into being an elite, pro athlete (sure, there are dancers who could be in that category, but not NFL cheerleaders, for Christ's sake--dancers like Bolshoi or NYC Ballet, yes).

I'd be willing to bet that 10 years after retirement from football or cheering the cheerleaders have more money than the average player, and a whole lot more brains.

On the moral scale is watching half naked women do bumps and grinds worse than watching very large men bash each other's brains in, literally? (I'm guilty as charged.)

id just like to point out as a solider in the armed forces of the united states of america
i was forced to do that 24/7 and was not making minimum wage when those hours were factored in
and my drill seargent was very rude to me invaded my personal space and made me perform exercises
that mimicked sexual intercourse.

I tend to agree with pro sports but college and high school is a little different IMO.

This might be a Canada / US thing. I have never been to a HS or University game where they had cheerleaders. My HS was the biggest in the country at the time. Though looking it up by University now has a cheerleading squad. Shouldn't girls /women be playing sports rather than cheering?? It seems to me sending wrong message.

There are some pretty big high school (and college) cheerleading competitions... and some of the stuff they do I'd certainly classify as athletic and wouldn't want to try myself. A fair number of injuries from falls.

No one is forcing these girls to be cheerleaders...
