I am surprised ski patrol has the 4th gulley open. It’s pretty fucking sketchy and I’ve never done it.

They should probably rope that one off or have some serious ropes and signage indicating the mandatory air / sketch runout required. The other 3 are pretty gnarly but not nearly the same difficulty

4th is the easiest one if you stick to the main line.

Signs might be a good idea, but a permanent closure would be very disappointing. Remember, we are having a pretty lean year. On a good year, that's one of the coolest lines back there. People have been hitting it for a long time.

Like I said, the main lines of 1,2,and 4 are pretty easily distinguishable. Stick to those and you will be fine. Start poking around where you don't know where you are and you're going to have a bad time. It takes time to familiarize yourself with these lines. I've been skiing them for 20+ years and still get confused sometimes. That doesn't mean they should be closed though, that'd be a real shame.

Not sure that's technically true, but I get your point. Still worth noting, you can mitigate risk. One of the easier ways is to ski with a smart, experienced partner.

For that particular spot, a sign indicating mandatory cliffs below is all I would ever suggest. I don't think that ski patrol has a responsibility to put the sign there, but it would be helpful. CB puts (sometimes comical) whiteboard signs all over the hill warning people of things like that. That approach seems to keep most people unfamiliar with the terrain out of trouble while still allowing others to get rowdy if they so desire..

So I learned something yesterday...apparently that little side chute into SG4 is now affectionately known by patrol as "Air Jordan"
