That was a nice fish but fuck it wasn't worth it. Going in for another surgery today, I pulled the screws out of the bone holding that new plate in at some point on Sunday. When the doc cleared me to fish, he probably didn't know I'd be chucking a heavy ass sink tip and a giant streamer all day. FML.

Fun trip. I kinda like going after or between the "hatches". BTW, (in reference to the other thread), our guide said that he did a float with wounded warriors this year, (so some used spinning gear), and one boat got 16 pike, and another boat got 22 right near Missoula. They threw them all on the bank.

Thus ends another summer. On to fall fishing.
Yup. Floated the Snake canyon with my wife and kids on Saturday. It was on fire. Kids stuck lots of fish on the fly sticks.

Floated my go to, quiet river Sunday, (when the barometer changed). Spent 9 hours walking and floating with good pmd and caddis coming off and didn’t even turn a head of a Twinkie. Streamers in every color and size. Twitched foam. Attractors and nymphs. Emergers. Double nymph rigs hung at every depth. Matched hatch lifecycles when applicable. Shit...I even dropped a 1/4 oz jig and twister tail with a 7wt in a few deep holes. Not a damn thing. Thankfully there was smoke in the air and a bottle of brown water!

Colors were going north of JH! Fall fishing seems to be here. Things should pick up with some steady weather. Shitty or nice. Can’t beat fall fishing when it’s on.

headed up to row another greens one fly tournament
Drew decent stcks and it doesnt get much better than scoring one at the put in
nor much worse than that being the only one that scored
tough dry fishin but the dudes frothed the waters hard

micro burst and hail storm rolled thru

Were fishin below mother in law rapid and i look up and there's a raft anchored up in the rapid
and 3 young adults reefing on the rope trying to get unstuck

well that shit dont work so they cut or let the rest of the anchor line out and sacrifice it to the river gods
run thru the rapid and row up the back side jetison a bro and he swims out to the rock with the tacoed raft on it
minus any rope or mechanical advantage z drags system and it sure seemed that wits where in short supply too
we didnt stick around to watch but i hopes the 1st rule of responder rescue
dont become a rescue-e was learnt and we watched em row by an hour or so later
went back and there were casting feats o skill

cool stuff to be bid on

    and winners accolades

the old man had a blue ribbon consul meeting
i mooched a sup from work thats a foot less than mine and thru the carptain amurica model on the gorge

    got 3 to eat
managed the trinity of fail with a failure to stop a lumber yard ditching
a drag dont work with the line around the reel knob
and i beats me he ate it ran rolled and i got left with a scale on the fly
avoided the skunkin by kickin a little small mouthed bass
pops n i launched at little hole stuck a few floated down and found one of my dudes from the day before and put him in the back and floated down
ran into the lumpys and his builder bob bro

    stuck a few

pulled off around 8 to a flat tire on the old mans rig and
wtf and wheres the key dad?

thankfully a gob from craig had a plug kit and access to a compressor
and we managed to make it back to dj bout midnight to find out my dads reservation was for next saturday
the fg lodge team hooked us up found us a room and a bowl of warm soup
woke up sung a song of

threw eat set and a good 45 minutes of bent rod tug o poopers

    put em in

    poopy fall cheers fuckos
