They don't really come alive until you're going about 50mph.

The 108s I'm on really light up between 60 and 100 mph, but anything over 45 is still fun.

Hahah. Not sure why you're confessing that about your skiing. Sounds like your technique is terrible. Maybe take a lesson.

I'm starting to get the picture...you're the guy who buys the $9,000 Enduro race mountainbike with 7 inches of suspension, and gets his doors blown off by guys on 5 inch AM bikes.

    Got it.

Come on up to Nakiska, the Lake, or the Horse and I'll show you around Buttah.

Dayum! That's a super tempting deal. Even just for fun long ski days. Although the the hostage plate kind kills it.

I have some 2x4 narrow assed 207 dynastar raceroom GS skis with Sally 920's from bitd that fit a similar bill.

there was a totally deep podcast episode recently with lou dawson, and those guys had a circle jerk going on about the ultimate touring ski, which they all think is around 85mm.

How do you like the Salomon Mtn Explore paired with the F1s? I've been looking at boots and getting something more on the uphill side of things.... Do you ever ski the F1s with a bigger ski?
Love the Mtn Explores with the F1s. I've skied the F1s on ZeroG 95s and ZeroG 108s. Good in perfect pow but what isn't? A bit undergunned with bigger skis in mank

If you're saying you like to smutz around off-piste on chalky hardpack that's a little different.
Bullshit and I've owned both. As I know you have. I have ZERO issue with edge grip on my Goliaths. They have the same edge grip, the Goliath has more pop where the LP is more dead feeling. I only have close to 100ish days on the LP though and about 25 on the Goliath and not once have I thought the Goliath didn't have the edge hold of the LP. While the Goliath will release easier when commanded than the LP, that doesn't equate to lack of edge hold.

Yup. The Goliaths were a perfect replacement/improvement for the same duties as my LP XXLs from somewhere in the oughts.

Almost pulled the trigger on RC112s, but never did. Still wish I had.

The deal on the Goliaths was just too good to pass up, and they rail just as hard as the LP XXLs (especially before Dynastar softened them up. A buddy had the later version of the LP, a couple years before they switched to the Cham series, and at some point Dynastar really softened the LP lineup, into more of a surfy pow ski flex in the tip and forebody. Flexed a lot like, but a little softer overall, than the EHP actually).

It's not hard pack very often here so I don't own anything under 102.

    Yup.

"Fat" skies I've tried in the last year - Zero G 108, Helio 105, Helio 116, Sportiva Vapor Nano 105. Not a single one as much fun (for me) as my Dynafit Carbonio 89's or (on the right day) my skimo sticks.

    YMMV

But, for what it's worth, after trying a bunch of stuff, I spent my money on the Carbonio's (no pro deal to be had on a limited edition ski, and I still still bought 'em). So did two of my co workers. Maybe it's just living in Sun Valley rather than somewhere it snows two feet at a time, but I don't really wish for more underfoot.

Only if old the new young.

Yesterday I skied pow on 122, 105, and 65 mm skis throughout a looong day.

At speed it doesn't really matter, it's only when you slow down that you'll notice the advantage of girth.

    Or that's what she said.

The thing about super fat skis is that you'll never have knee deep powder because you'll always be sitting on top of it.

Warms my heart to see all those Goliaths I sold off on closeout cheap are well loved.

It won that gear of the year award in Outside and we didn't have enough on hand and sold out. The next year we upped our order and brought a lot more into North America but it seems that the next year rocker was all the trend and we didn't sell that many. Movement should have made a 185 version of that same ski.

How is a place fucked just because someone in that place slides on hardpack with 108mm-waist skis?

Shane skied on 1983 Chevy El Camino bumpers and it looked pretty fun.
