Holy crap, never saw that coming.
I used to hike 2 hours for 10 minutes of turns on 207 gs skis, without needing “skins” or “hike mode.” Tell me again how I’m a gaper.

I wonder if the fact that they are having an incredibly shitty season this year caused them to panic and forced them to try to generate more revenue next season. I also wonder if they'll stay on the MC.

The arms race continues. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few other resorts from mountain collective that were left behind in the Ikon deal do the same. Sun Valley?

There's a decent chance there won't even be a mountain collective pass next year.

Epic Local doesn't get T-Ride benefits. So that'll at least keep a small portion of the Front Range hoard away.

6-7 hard hours from DEN or SLC, or a flight + 90 minute drive from Montrose.
It is still a vacation to go there.
It's not going to put numbers through the roof, but I'm sure they expect a slight uptick.

I'm sure there will be plenty of Epic Local pass holders going full Epic due to the Telluride days.

Yep. Already have friends saying they'll do that.

After this season with the Epic pass I've realized the error of my ways.

Next season, just a Loveland pass, a Gem card, and a van.

Is this confirmed? I noticed that there was no mention of the Epic Local Pass in the details.

A way to get a bump in full Epic passes over the E-Local. Depending how that plays out, those that make the switch may be more likely to add some more ski days in Vail/BC since they aren't limited.
Would be interested to see the actual number of ski days/season of the front range crowd, and how many of their 10-days they actually use at V/BC. The numbers are out there, just not willingly shared I would guess.

Also Vail employees and dependents will still have to pay $50 for a ticket.

    Under the FAQ section...

"Does the Epic Local Pass have access to Telluride Ski Resort?
No, access is only available on the Epic Pass, Epic 7-Day, and Epic 4-Day pass"

Is Telluride still part of the Mountain Collective?
Mountain Collective owners will continue to have access to Telluride during the remainder of the
2017-18 ski season. Beginning with the 2018-19 ski season, Telluride will no longer be a part of the
    Mountain Collective.

Bummer. I guess we are going there this year even if it is rock and dirt in March. Love that place. The last couple of years of the Mountain Collective have been too good to be true for our particular situation. Get it while you can.

For my full Epic Pass this season, I did the early $50 down payment last Spring, then they charged the rest of it in Sept. Was about US$863 total.

I'm really not sure how to feel. Are the resorts really hurting for the money? I don't know enough about the situation.
