Yesterday, I did my big toe with a drill bit spun between my fingers. New boots need a date with the boot fitter. Getting it started without it walking was the hardest and required a painful amount of pressure. After it started, though, it didn't need much force. And when I hit pay dirt, oh boy, it was glorious. There was a geyser of fluid and a huge relief.

Oh and I sterilized the bit in boiling water.

hot needle! that is the true style, will look extremely masculine if executed with a big wrench holding it. But as I can tell from experience it does not hurt at all. I went for a second hole on the other side to get out all black spots. Make sure the needle is glowing white for best results. Heat up in the flame of a candle and have a beer while doing so.
If you have a cannula this would be the professionals way to go.

After you did the holes keep them open by just scraping out the dry blood one or twice a day if you feel it ist needed.

    Dear TGR Friends,
This is TR's wife. Regretfully, TR did not make it last night, the procedure caused massive bleeding and he passed away at 2am surrounded by family. He wasn't a man of great means but left instructions on how a few of his belongings should be dispersed:

SFB: 2 Pivot 14 heels set at 8.5 DIN and 17 Binding Freedom inserts
James Piotrowski:1 book titled "Doxxing for Fun and Profit"
Flowing Alpy: 2 '16BBI stickers and a 6 pack of Chinese Mung Bean soda
BMills: Coupon for a free McRib sandwich (with the purchase of a Happy Meal) and a street map of Toledo
PNWBrit: 2 Lucas headlamps with lighting harness and a cassette recording of "God Save the Queens" by Culture Club
Digitaldeath: $37 and a Packers jersey
Benny Profane: 18" x 16" Mussolini bust carved out of genoa salami

    Peace and positive vibes everyone,
    Mrs. Timberridge

^^ I'm not Beer Drinker with tons of shit to give away.

    No seriously, I'm still here...

I put together a little photo montage of the procedure. My kid took a video but I have to figure out how to upload that so only pictures for now. I decided to go with the 1/16 drill method recommended on this site. I found the centerline and drilled. It was painless.

After the initial release of blood which shot up approximately 2"...

On the first picture your index finger seems to match your profile pic.

Thanks. I found the centerline of the nail, marked it with a fine tip pen and drilled. I'm considering drilling a replica of the pivot heel screw pattern tonight if I can get a template reduced down enough.

This works like a charm. It shouldn't hurt at all since it melts through the nail and then you just pop the blood blister underneath. If you have a gas torch it'll heat that needle in 20 seconds while holding it with a pair of pliers, then push through the nail. The whole thing should take about 2 minutes at most with virtually no pain.

I normally stick the afflicted digit in hot water for 30 minutes and "cook" the blood. Hurts like hell but it is pain free a day or two later and I don't have an open wound to worry about.

Maybe the keratin on my nails is softer--easier to drill thru?

I have had success on toes with the hand spun drill bit method. Looks like you figured it out.. hope the loss of pressure helped the pain, it certainly always has for me!
