I don’t think they were, but I’m not 100% sure.

My guess is the full pass sales weren’t very strong so they are doing this. This doesn’t speak well to price integrity.

Right. I'd be angry if I already bought an Ikon pass. I'm also surprised they haven't said anything about Solitude being on this year's pass yet.

I’m in this group. Bought at the initial offer. Had I known this Costco deal was coming I would have waited.

What has happened in the past when you buy your season pass at a place that afterwards gets bought by the Ikon people? Does your season pass get turned into a Ikon Pass? I spent $1k at Solitude, wondering what their protocol is. Should be an even trade I hope.

After a slight delay, they announced Ikon benefits for DV passholders.

If eastern Boyne resorts had unlimited skiing I would get one...I think a lot of areas are going to be a lot more crowded this season

The number of overall skiers is not really going to change, people will just be more spread out in theory. The only time I see this being a real detriment is when one ski area posts a larger snowfall number than others on the respective pass and everyone mobs that area.

I'd be shocked if these pass wars result in significantly higher skier visits, if all else remains equal (obviously snow quantity/quality impacts skier visits).

These passes will just move people around some.

Every road with a ski area at one end of it will look like 70 into summit county and 80 into tahoe soon.

Because customer experience is highly valued.

To the extent that they are transforming day pass buyers into some flavor of season pass holders, they are increasing skier visits.

I'm Not sure the ikon could make Tahoe worse than last year. Seems like that was max numbers and some of those won't buy now that there's no bronze. At least that's my hope. Regardless, fuck Squaw

Alterra can spend money on useful things. Or it can spend money on ETL of shit like photos and data from a bunch of legacy systems that need frequent updating anyhow.
