Now we know why alta/bird made the early bird deals so early this year. Not sure what I'd have done if I didn't commit back in May.

I don't think they add anymore Utah. I think today was the 'utah day'. I'm a snowbasin holder. I'm not sure if I want them to join this or not...but sunvalley/snowbasin have to be on vail/altera's hit list.

It's been at least 10 years since Solitude was a "sleepy little resort" by even the loosest possible definition.

If you sleep in you're parking on the road...

There are 6 more resorts to be announced in the next three days -- who do people think is on that list?

I've got no idea on resorts themselves, but if I had to guess regions:

    - 2 NE
    - 1 Midwest
    - 1 PNW
    - 2 who the fuck knows.

    Jay Peak
    Grand Targhee
    Mt. Baker
    Red Mountain
    Wolf Creek
    Crystal

Nothing based on facts, just that they seem to be going to the anti-vail type mountains. Beside WTF is even left.
My wild card is Beech Mountain in NC.

Circa 0930 arrival last season barely, barely, netted me a spot on the road. Granted, it was a pow day, and possibly the first legit pow day of the year despite it being late January, but still. I think Beaver is the only place left in Utah that truly qualifies as "sleepy."

Not sure they're going anti-vail, more that they're going to places where they get access to a sizeable local market and can entice people to use it as a home and travel pass.

In that sense, Baker/Crystal has some merit for PNW. Nothing is really local to Wolf Creek but would be cool for Coloradoans and maybe some Texans who travel.

    Just please god...not Loveland.

Pow Mountain has been pretty sleep the few times I've been there.

I never thought I would say this, buts its too much. When this whole things comes crashing down like it always does, I hate that it hurts the local mountains.

Yeah. Pretty ridiculous. Its been that way for 5-7 years at least. I'm pissed back in 2010 I didnt buy a foreclosure up their to have access to the place and covered parking, but the damn HOA dues are killer.

On weekends for sure, but I’ve had a ton of midweek powder days at Soli when the mountain was close to vacant. Not so much last year, but for sure 2 and 3 seasons ago. Those days may be gone now.

That's the rumor... frankly, I wish they'd buy Kirkwood so Vail couldn't close the place on April fucking 5th.

I keep thinking that...how long till Loveland gets sucked up

Although maybe they’ll be able to get the Ridge open before March

I have both IKON base and a Sierra at Tahoe pass. Anyone been in a similar situation with one of the acquired mountains and received a refund for the acquired resorts pass?

Honestly not happy if Sierra at Tahoe is on IKON... it's already crowded enough on weekends.

I couldnt agree more on the Kirkwood thing....the days of skiing lifts there on memorial day weekend are long gone.

Since they have already tied into Boyne, I could easily see Crystal and Snoqualmie. Especially with Vail buying Stevens Pass. Baker is the anti-Ikon/Vail. Can't see that happening.
