Is the venue the same as last year? Rather short and unimpressive from my memory..

Agreed. Travis Rice's run last year was totally insane. Hoping for a repeat.

Also a 4*, not a main FWT event..

    Hence the question.

Are there photos availavle of this year's venue?

This seems like a different start zone for sure, but I haven't seen anything else..

They sent the male athletes up starting at 5am. I got there around 6. Mile long skin track road into base of venue (athletes got sled-towed) then a 2 hour boot pack in deep snow over ice crust to the top of the face. Women were at the base and never got sent up. Men waited at the top after the climb for 3 hours (as we did below) then got sent down due to lack of viz. Pounding snow here and no relief in sight. It will be interesting to see if they get the event off at all considering this storm is supposed to be something of a monster and the window is getting short.

Guys coming down said it was stupid deep but they were still hitting icy bottom.

I've always considered it really unfortunate that the JP stop is in January. Not much choice, I get it, but week-long storms are almost the norm. I hope it pops for you!

I’d say no comp sucks, but it was a trip to Japan with deep pow available, and I’m guessing only podiums get paid so it was a normal trip for most

    next time
