I think only the most jaded of competitors were completely disappointed by the overall trip, if anyone was. Some of them were here with filmers and photographers doing that stuff on some down days.
While they all would have loved to actually compete it sounded like the general consensus was that this was the right call for safety's sake, and no one was all that stoked on the smaller, secondary FWQ venue.
Might have been good for the rookies to get their bearings in the structure of things, hang with the other competitors and relieve a few first-time jitters. They skied, partied, made new friends and went to freakin' Hakuba for a week which for most of the ski world is a once in a lifetime adventure.
Everyone I met that I didn't already know was super chill and friendly.
Hell, it got me off my ass to Japan for the first time for which I am grateful.

Bummer about the comp but it sounds like it was for the best and a double event like Andora last year will provide much entertainment. At kicking Horse no else. Super stoked for the tour this year.

Yup, possibly Monday now but no real weather windows appear to be opening in the next week.
Ozone is the venue and word is competitors are not too stoked about...it has the longest sustained vert but no big diving boards. Truth and Dare (Terminator 1) is the second venue (which they are liking) and they're hoping to hold one contest on Ozone and a second on T & D for the Japan make-up. The resort got really wind hammered last night and this morning but new snow coming should fill things in nicely.
