Urine contains a fair amount of excreted nutrients- in fact, I recall years ago seeing an article proposing the harvesting of such nutrients. for what purpose, I do not remember. While fresh urine is clean (at least it ought to be), nine-day-old piss, if not stored properly will serve as an effective medium for bacterial growth. Might as well wash your face in the toilet, eh?

Certain Asian cultures believe drinking the urine (Urophagia) is the key to a long life.

we all did get flu shots in our house last fall. last night my son not feeling well, this morning has flu symptoms. I needed him to sleep, not take him out to the dr. or urgent care to get tamiflu, so I decided to try that virtuwell.com. Put in his symtoms, answered their questions, etc. and within and hour a message that it sounds like influenza and an anti-viral med prescription was sent to our pharmacy (that I chose on their form). Let's hope it helps shorten the agony. But I recommend that website for sure. ($49 for diagnosis without insurance... I input our insurance, so will just pay our co-pay, and was $75 for the med at the pharmacy)

actually they upped it to 36% for adults and higher for children.
This year’s flu vaccine is only 36 percent effective—and that’s great news
In the last decade, only one flu shot has reached the 60 percent efficacy mark. Three others have gotten over 50 percent. The lowest: 19.
So when the Centers for Disease Control says this year’s flu vaccine is 36 percent effective, that’s not terrible news. Especially when, prior to this estimate, the CDC thought it might only be 10 percent, which is how effective this same vaccine was in Australia. It’s actually great news. In a season as severe as this one, any outcome that’s better than expected is cause for celebration.
And that’s not even the best part.
Though the vaccine is, yes, “only” 36 percent effective overall, it works far better for certain flu strains. The efficacy for H3N2—25 percent—brings down the average. We know that H3N2 is particularly hard to develop a good innoculation for, because it tends to accumulate mutations as it grows in eggs, which is how we make most flu vaccines. Those acquired mutations mean that the virus you end up with isn’t the same virus you started with, or the same virus that’s circulating. But we’re better at designing vaccines for other strains, like H1N1 and B viruses. This year’s efficacy for the B strain is 42 percent, and goes up to 67 percent for H1N1.“When you see something that is not right, not just, not fair, you have a moral obligation to say something. To do something." Rep. John Lewis

Tldr
Did I get the flu from the shot? No
Would I prefer shot or flu? Shot
Would I prefer shot or death? Shot
Would I prefer shot side effects every single year or take the chance,
which has been in my subjective scenario, 2 flu episodes out of 30
years? Meh, not sure.
I've been meaning to get back around this but have been kinda busy and
didn't want to try to yell over the vaxxer and antivaxxer pandemonium.
Now urine pandemonium?
I made the “no thanks” comment partly in jest although I haven’t had a
flu shot in a long time.
But I'm an open minded guy, and like science, and a few people threw
down some reasonable thoughts about it including: some superbad
strains going around, I'm getting older, and my mom is getting old
don’t want to get her sick, nieces and nephew all in school, so I
figured what the heck get a shot in the name of science and taking one
for the team and see what happens.
So I got a shot the evening of Friday January 19, as I don't generally
do a ton on the weekend and thought I would rest. Turns out it started
snowing, and that Sunday was a pretty decent powder day for what we've
had this year. I was certainly more tired, had a mild fever, and a
runny nose. No super big deal. I did have a fairly bad pain in the
shoulder. I probably could have relaxed my deltoid a bit more during
the shot, might have helped, but I think it was mainly the stuff in
the shot, as it didn't go away. It was fairly constant ache for two
weeks, and would amplify when picking up something heavy or poling
around on skis.
It subsided a bit after two weeks but would still send a jolt of pain
when tensing until just about a week ago, so probably 3 weeks total.
It's mostly gone now, but was super fucking annoying and starting to
get a bit worrisome as to why it was still there. I just scratched my
shoulder a minute ago and can still feel a burning below the skin,
certainly nothing like that on my other shoulder.
So the point of all this, is that the number of people that aren't
getting a shot, is probably higher than reported due to side effects.
I mean other than blathering on a ski forum, where would people be
talking about this? FB personal friends, etc. Probably not reporting
it. I would wager the number of people not getting a shot due to side
effects would be considerably higher than people with scary anti vaxx
theories.
It's kind of a pain in the arm, cost a little money, had to stand
around with sick people for an hour at pharm, don't usually get flu,
therefore not super compelled to get a shot. Will I do it next year?
Not sure.

I dunno but it sounds like more of a physical problem with the shot (hit a nerve or a tendon or something something)than a side effect of the vaccine. I understand that people's reactions to it vary, but 3 weeks? That seems kinda crazy when I didn't even have 10 minutes of pain/reaction. But what the hell do I know.

You should get it again next year to see if the results are consistent - i.e. if it's you. Because I've had shots for years, along with a lot of colleagues (at the mass company-innoculations) and nobody that I know of has ever had anything other than a slight discomfort at the shot location for, at most, an afternoon.
If it *is* just you, science should study you.

As I posted earlier, I got the shot this year.
I still have not gotten the flu. Nor did I have any side effects from the shot."Zee damn fat skis are ruining zee piste !" -Oscar Schevlin

It's people like this that reinforce my mistrust of what we are told to believe.
Even though her grandson is autistic and she blames immunization (let's say she is wrong with that) everything else she is saying is alarming.
Hopefully one day a flu shot will be developed that doesn't cause concern or mistrust. With the aging population something better needs to be developed.Last edited by Kenny Satch; 12-04-2018 at 04:55 PM. Reason: aging not acing.
